Well i was up at Mc.Donalds and they're was a Neon Srt-4, my friend was with me and he said we should race since he raced him about a month ago in his mustang and the guy put like 2 car's on him. So we get out on the interstate and the first one we go from about 50 and i end up messin up and shift way to earlier into fourth so we just slow back down, this time we were going 30-40 so i was in first i hammered and he was pulling away and eventaully put 4-5 car's on me and wasen't pulling anymore and then i slowed down once i hit 110-115. People said he had stuff done but i don't know what, so i'm curious as to what he would have to have done to put 4-5 car's on me? or can they do that stock? My car's stock except flowmaster's.

4-5 cars is a decent amount. That's roughly .5 seconds in the 1/4 mile. SRT4's are a drivers race with a stock M6 LT1. He has some work done.

Get those headers and CAI on and give it another shot. MAC's and Hooker catback helped me out by 0.6 seconds. Also, the flowmasters are notorious for not being as free flowing as other mufflers.

srt's wake up nicely from mods, there a great bang for the buck but I still cant see myself buyin a neon

Ya i was reading up on their 1/4th times and it looks like it would defintly be a drivers race in stock form. I'm going to try and find out what he has done because he put 5 car's on me so he's defintly not stock.I don't know how big of a diffrence this would make, but i just remembered after i posted this last night that i left my windows down during the race. I know i still wouldn't have beaten him but maybe it would have only been 3 cars (wishing)

Hopefully i can get headers a tune and a cai before he gets anymore mods and we can run them again.

a friend of mine has an srt4 and raced a 2002 trans am with a converter, nitrous, heads, cam, long tubes. The neon has tuneing, exhaust, upped boost and nitrous. They went from a stop, the trans am jumped out 2-3 cars, then the neon reeled him in by the 1/8th or so and put 2 or so cars on him by 120. I didnt expect that outcome but some srt4s are freaking fast if right.

I dont know much on them but I know dodge offers 3 turbo stages of mods,
think stage one is low/mid 13's, stage 2 is high 12's low 13's and stage 3 is lower 12's....pretty impressive to say the least...If any of this is inaccurate somebody chime in

A heads/cam/nitrous LS1 should have no issue pulling a very low 11 second slip, if not in the high 10 second range. If the Neon was able to make up the 2-3 cars that it lost off the line, that means it should atleast do high 10s, and that seems aweful fast unless they are spraying alot.

Obviously the T/A was a POS to lose with all those mods. A heads, cam, nitrous LS1 should push 650+ hp. No way an SRT-4 with those mods has anywhere near 650 hp.

With a weight advantage of nearly 600lbs, an SRT-4 wouldn't need 650hp.

It would need a better power to weight ratio than the t/a to pull it up top. So it would need at least 550 hp. I don't see that SRT-4 putting out that much hp with those mods. Do you?

Depends on how much nitrous both are running, don't you think? The LS1 could only be running a 75 shot (which would put it absolutely nowhere near 650) and the SRT-4 could be running a 150 (or more). In that case, it's totally believable.

Click on LS1 dyno test. 530 n/a hp with a heads cam LS1 + a 75 shot is 605 hp. I wouldn't call that absolutely nowhere near 650. It isn't 650 but fairly close. I don't think an SRT-4 with the above mentioned mods and more than 150 shot would survive long at all.
