Got me a grudge race Sat nite (Firehawk vs. blown '95GT)
Here in Jacksonville, we have an 1/8 mile track that hosts midnight drag racing every sat. night. Anyways, a co-worker has a vortech blown '95GT he wants to run against me. I'll be running the LT4 Firehawk for the first time (may be the only time). Any takers on guessing the outcome of this race? This, assuming the weather is good to us this weekend.
I'll post back results either way, just thought I'd share

95....was that the 5.0?
i think it was the 4.6L OHC.
they make something like 200hp at the wheels stock...so probably only 275-300 when blown.
possibly more.
but i saw a guy with a new 04 GT make 330 on the dyno with a blower...thought that was pretty pathetic
but i think it will be a drivers race

Are you guys serious?!?!?!?!?!
If that Firehawk is stock the Stang will beat you and pretty bad. I have beaten LT1s with my few mods and from a roll at that. A lot of people really underestimate the 5.0.
Also, I'm sure if this guy has a blower that he didn't leave the rest of the car stock. That just doesn't make sense. Now if he sucks at driving or blows the launch which is entirely possible than you can win.
If the Firehawk is well modded than I retract my previous statements.

You ever drove an LT4 Firehawk or SS?
He has 9lbs. of boost, '95's have a 5.0L, it's a 5-speed and just confirmed it has 3.73 gears. It is not intercooled, stock pistons
, SVO ground fx, borla side exit exhaust, street tires.
The LT4 Hawk is dead stock, street tires, M6 w/the only addition being an SLP fan switch, descreened MAF, TB Coolant bypass, and an SLP flow booster. Stock air filter, stock Thermostat, 3.42's.
...Wish there was $ on it, but indeed, this is for fun.

Hey Madhandle... its a LT4 Firehawk... better exhaust (including manifolds), lt4 heads, different cam than lt1, better intake etc. 330hp I think they are rated? Running 13.0 stock wasn't uncommon in those was it?
Re: Got me a grudge race Sat nite (Firehawk vs. blown '95GT)
It will probaly come down to the better driver winning. Both cars seem like they are capable of low 13's.
How does the LT4 compare with your '95Z that went 12.9 in your sig?

88 Saleen (nice car, btw), It fairs pretty evenly HOWEVER, this car transfers weight far better than the Z as it sits. It seems that I will be feathering it out of the hole, mainly so I don't mess nothing up, but also because of spin of course. This car is very torquey for a stock car, and I believe that 330hp is under-rated to say the least. I will be shocked if it doesn't produce a decent timeslip. The car does not hesitate whatsoever. We'll see...I'm not gonna talk any shyt, but I do believe I may be handing him his rear by the end of the night.

The Mustang in question sounds like it's probably a low 13 second car. Should be a pretty good race, but I wouldn't be surprised if you beat him pretty good. Sounds like a half *** setup.

Weren' they rated at 225 until 95? Then they went down to 215 in 96?
Either way that was the deciding factor for me in the Camaro vs. Stang debate when I bought my first 4th gen in 1998.
"Seriously, the Camaro has 50 more hp? Where do I sign?"
