got beat for my third time
so me and a buddy of mine were driving around the neighborhood last night smokin a lil when i passed a house that is all into ricers but mostly civics and eclipses/talons. next thing i knew two of them jump into one of their hatchbacks, mid 90's body stlye, and came up next to me at a stop sign. we decided to go to the closest road outside the neighborhood and race, did a roll from about 35ish and by 90 he was a good 5-10 cars ahead! dude was stuck up like no other too, we pulled into a h.e.b. parking lot and talked, told him my mild mods and he said he had an engine swap and with a 6psi turbo non intercooled with the whole map thing going as well. would never pop his hood though even when i asked lol. anayways i was kinda depressed for a lil while afterwards since i never thought i would lose to a civic, especially a egg shaped one lol
i have a 97 z28, mods listed in sig. yea i know any car can be made to go fast, this is true. oh and the air foils actually do serve a purpose bro, some aftermarket throttle bodies come with them already built into them. anyway it was a fun night
I'd drive my car off a cliff if I lost to one of them
Makes me wonder what engine swap he had. The average turbo Civic is quick (maybe 14s in the 1/4) but certainly not "fast" with just a bolt-on turbo kit. To go faster takes a built engine + real boost and/or more cubes. 6 psi non-intercooled just isn't going to do that much for 'em.
Also, anybody with no losses just hasn't raced the right people yet.

One of my friends used to have an '01 Civic w/ I believe to be the same motor from the factory. I think it was a 1.6L SOHC but he was running 10lbs of boost with an intercooler and he could only muster a 14.4@96mph.
With those early 90's civic hatches, a 50 shot of nitrous can work wonders. a guy at the track had a late 90's civic hatch with a k-22 swap and exhaust. He put a 50 shot of nitrous on and he was running 13.3's at 105mph.
Im guessing he had more than he was telling.

I raced a gutted single turbo civic, like the one your talkin about, a while back when I just had bolt ons....I got beat bad.....not to mention it was from a dig!

yea it was the h series motor, from preludes i believe. didnt mention it b/c i figured ya'll wouldnt know what i would be talking about but yea that and a 6 psi turbo will rape in that lightweight hatch. he would probably smoke me from a dig!
I don't know much about Hondas but the wikipedia says an H-series 2.2 liter from the US market made all of ~ 160hp and ~ 150 tq. I don't see how 6 psi on top of that will make it a monster. Peppy perhaps, but not all that fast in the grand scheme of things.
Then again, I gotta admit I don't get too excited about a car that's had an engine swap and a ton of work that just runs 13s. Look up the Honda hatch with the C5 drivetrain swap -- that is an extremely impressive, over-the-top engine swap
My 89 Mirage turbo came stock with a 1.6 liter turboed version of what became the DSM's 2.0 engine. At 6 psi of non-intercooled boost it made like 135hp. Upgraded with the stock turbo, intercooler, and injectors from a DSM my Mirage (all 2450 lbs of it) could spin the tires from a 70 roll, and ran mid 14s at around 98 mph. Many of those cars received DSM 2.0 swaps and ran easy 11s at 120+ mph with relatively mild builds. Again - that's a worthwhile swap.

It gets really confusing because there are about 14 different variations of the B16 motor, depending on what car they were in and what year. You are right that an engine swap isnt worth while if it only puts you in the 13's, The only big advantage they have is their light weight.
