I have never gotten betten by a mustang. Especially the Escort style hatchback Mustang. 50-100, I had him beat. We stopped at a red light and he said, "I got 4.10's, and have not topend. Lets go redlight to redlight." Of course I said yes. I had him till 2nd gear, and because he had gears, he grabbed 3rd sooner than I did, and started pulling away. I motoned for him to pull over, so I could find out what he had. He had all the bolt ons, heads and cam. I am strictly a bolt on car, and I almost beat him. Hell if I had heads and a cam, he would be in the next county. That made me feel a little better.

 

heads. gears and cam and all bolt ons should just about beat you off the line always. your cars pull like hell top end. my buddy has a 99 ls1 and it is a monster top end. BUT with my heads and cam, intake, boltons etc.. i can take him easily off line and hold him through the 1/4 mile. difference in cars= cheaper to buy a stang in the first place (depending on what you are looking for) and cheaper to mod. yor right though- do heads and cam in an ls1 and they fly!! my friend who has the 99 is too damn cheap to do anything to his car. I thikn he is still trying to pay the thing off


good race though, you should have asked to race him for a longer stretch, then you probably should have taken him

 

Yeah, I could have probably gotten him in the quarter. BTW, I have an LT1
