i have a 93 Z28. i got no mods in it yet except a Hughes Performance racing rebuild kit, TCI RTF, Trans. cooler, Trans go Shift Kit, 2 qt. deeper and TCI oil pan in a TH700R4. is my car fast enough to beat the 98 - 04 GT's??? i know i got exhaust leaks on both exhaust manifolds, could this be keeping me from beating some of them??? how much horsepower am i losing.

i love to smoke muskanks, so i'll appreciate the info.

 

Id say it will be close. If you get a good launch you have a good chance.

 

What kind of times do stock LT1's with 2.73's run? I thought they were high 13-low 14 at worst. Depending on auto or M6. Most of the newer GT's I race at the track run about the same.

 

Stock vs stock, a drivers race all the way.


Yea and there even slower then the 5spd...so if the 5spd is slow no need to bring up the auto

Ive yet to see any proof of that....one by the few I raced, 2 by many Ive seen run at the track struggling w/ mods to get into the 13's,and 3 the kill stories ive read here...LT1 is stronger down low and up top due to displacement.

 

Tell that to the LT1's ive beat.
Im stock.

Edit: An do some searching on here, as in times with LT1's with light to no mods an times. Last I recall, 14.7@97.
I know driver plays a big role, but, I'm like you, I've yet to see a LT1 pull me.

Actually your LT1 as is would probly edge the Neon out. It's just a old 98 crapbox with nitrous an some bolt ons.

 

Have you ever ran that Neon at the track or anything?? I bet it suprises alot of people. Perhaps we will meet sometime.

 

Nah, we are pretty far apart.
I have a funny(at least to me an some close friends) story about In.
Anywho, never got the neon out to the track, I would say what alot of guys who did the same/more than me did, but, it would just be bs.
Lets just say, the neon(sad to say) is faster than my stock GT, by a good margin(not LS1 or 03Cobra like, but good enough to pull a few).
