Re: First time at track times...

I think the weather will help a little later in the winter months and i will have the car more than 2 weeks. My clutch slips for about 1/2 a sec going into 2nd and 3rd and it seems like i run out of 3rd gear on my 2nd run but my times were better. Ill try shifting about 200 rpms earlier and see what happens. I was happy with the 60' times my first time out. Thanks, Brian Kaiser

Not bad times, get the reaction times down, and the 60 foots can go lower too. You just need to run it more. My first time I ran a 14.3 due to my car going sideways, then a 13.8, then a 13.3. I gained half a second each run mainly because of traction.

Re: First time at track times...

What could be a good time to aim for with my car? Its a 99 ss camaro stock except with a slp optioned dual dual catback. I ordered a slp lid with a k&N filter(i know its the overpriced one) and a smooth bellow. What should my times look like with and without these mods. Thanks

with a perfect reaction time and a 2.0 60 foot right now you would be looking at a 13.4. The smooth bellowes and the k+n aren't really going to do anything, but it all adds up eventually. The lid should give you about a tenth. I would say you would be shooting for a 13.3 on a good run, 13.5 average runs.

What does the reaction time have to do with anything? Don't worry about the reaction time, the clocks don't start until you leave the line.

Yeah it's mostly all about the launch. With a 2.0 you should be ~13.5-6 or so. The time in my sig was with a 2.3sec 60 foot. I'm going again soon though, with some sticky tires

Re: First time at track times...

so if somebody has like a 2 second reaction time and the other gets a perfect one and wins but the first guy can still run a quicker time?
you learn something new every day.
