First time at the track.

So, I made my first trip to the track yesterday. Everyone was running slow. My friends Kenne Bell GT ran a best of 12.4 @ 117.8 last year and he was running 109-110 all day. Another car, a GTO with aftermarket heads, big cam, full bolt ons, stall gears and dr's was trapping 109 all day. I have stock TB, stock manifold, stock heads with light porting, stock bottom end, CC306 (only spinning to about 6200 rpm for the safety of my rod bolts) longtubes and magnaflow catback, stall and gears on cheap street tires. I ran 107 all day long. My best ET was 13.4 on a 2.24 60'. All my other 60's were 2.34 or worse. Even the guys running DR's were running terrible times. I figure on a day with some cool air and good track prep on DR's I should be able to get near 112 or 113. Mods to come this summer are: DR's, LCA's, EWP, cutout and a dyno tune.

Some other notes to back up my 'slow day for everyone' comment. New 350 Z (mods unknown) was running 96mph and a 4v Cobra was running about 94 mph. A modded 05 or 06 STI was trapping a best of 96.

Re: First time at the track.

Makes you wonder if the track was having issues with its equipment. Everybody shouldn't be running so much slower than normal even if it was in mid-August heat.

Re: First time at the track.

I at first thought the same thing, but my speedometer reading when the trip light went off at the end of the lane and my timeslip seemed to match up pretty well. Everyone was for sure losing 1-2mph just from so much spinning. The track was not well prepped. The roads were actually hooking up a lot better than the track was yesterday. It was almost 80 degrees, but I cannot tell you what the DA was. It doesn't print on the timeslips.

I decided that I think I'm going to order DR's and LCA's tonight, possibly an electric water pump and then see what happens in a week or two when we make a wednesday night trip when the sun/temp is down and they've had more time to properly prep the track.

For as poor as the times were, I'm glad I wasn't the only one. For the limited mods I'm running and how low I'm spinning the 306, I matched up pretty well to some cars that are far more modded and far newer than mine.
