Well tonight was my first time to the track. Smoked a lot of slow cars. Didn't have many close races. I was either getting smoked or beating slow cars. best race was with my friends WRX, he would beat my out of the whole but i reeled him in pretty easily.

My car runs very healthy but i was disappointed with my times, was expecting lower 14's and possibly a 13.9. I think it was probably the track, it seemed like i was spinning forever on the 1-2 shift. I think i'll probably go to a better track since a guy in a buick regal t-type was getting 12.9's and 13.0's, but at Norwalk he was runny 12.2's with the exact same setup.

sounds to me like a bad night at the track....you should definatly be in the high 13's espicially with your gearing

 

ur 60' isnt horrible even with a 2.0 i don't think you would have hit a 13, that's a REALLY low trap, whats your tranny shifting at?

 

mid to higher 13's shouldnt be a problem w/ your mods

 

Make sure all your plugs and wires are doing alright. I pulled the same times/mph while running on 7 cylinders.

 

This is close to the highest point in ohio, i don't know if that would make a difference or not. My friend with a 95 Z-28 (with the same mods as me) 6-speed got a best of 14.071. My friend with the WRX got a 15.00 (doesn't know how to launch it yet). I saw another 6-speed Z28 getting 14.3's. Another friend with a new GT 5 speed with drag radials could only get a 14.2.

Which track did you race at? If it was Dragway 42, I'm not surpised. Best I've done so far this year is a 13.8. Saw a LS1 auto Vette run consistent 14.0's a few weeks back. The problem at 42 is zero track prep. Very difficult to cut decent 60's on radials with no VHT.

 

I was spinning way more on the 1-2 shift than i was off the start. I'm sure when i go to a better track i'll be able to drop a couple tenths or so. I get better traction on the street than at this drag strip, it's right outside Marion.

I'd say by your 60ft. you were spinning quite a bit off the line too. You probably couldn't hear it though. Same for me, I get better traction on the street.

 

i just rotated my tires, and i checked the pressure in the tires. I only had 23psi in them. Max is 51. I know that didn't help my times trying to push under-inflated front tires down the track.

Don't feel to bad, I run a few MPH slower up here in Michigan than I did at the sea level east coast tracks. I spin all the way through first no matter what I do even if the track is semi prepped.
