Recently, as you guys know i purchased my 2001 Camaro SS. I really haven't done **** to it, it has pretty much stock everything besides the air lid and the k&n. Although.. i have my complete borla setup in the mail right now

By the way..I went to a car show today.. and by the way, I GOT FIRST! In the Late Model GM / CHEVY car category, I really couldn't believe they chose my car over the 4 or 5 new vettes that were out there.. =).

We were pulling out, got to the first light, and this kid in this 00 Mustang GT throws a few revs at me, so i rev at him a few times, considering pretty much all you can hear is motor with my stock exhaust.

Anyways.. I'm pretty sure all he had done was intake and exhaust also. This is my first manual, so my launching still needs some work, he got me off the line but i caught up to him in all of about 2 seconds, smoked him all the way through first, and easily pulled about 1/2 cars in front of him in 2nd.

I really thought the 00-02 GT's had more power then that.. hmm I'm interested in seeing how bad of a beating I give them when i finish up some mods.. :P

 

Nice kill I want an LS1. Next car will be that, or a GThO. I've been waiting to catch a GT on the streets with my Buick to see how it will do against one. Have'nt had luck yet.

'99-04 GT's have 260 horsepower. Your LS1 has a claimed 325, but really makes about 340-350. (Those are all in factory-stock condition.)

If he's mostly stock, you should be able to smoke pretty much any pre-'05 Mustang. '05 GT's will give you a good run, but you still have the advantage.

Too true. On SVT performance there is a vid of a 01GT with a just a cai, beating a LS1 with longtubes, gears, and a pulley.

Congrats on the car show victory! Those SS' are going to be more and more valuable as time goes on, I am not surprised at all that you won over Corvettes!

I've never raced a Mustang but everywhere I read, they just can't match up with an LS1 stock-for-stock that is. If you plan to build up your car like most of us here, you won't get much satisfaction unless there is a snake emblem on that 'stang. Leave the GT's to our 3.8 liter bretheren!

Nah, it is SVT performance. Most are Cobra owners of the 03 Variety, some LS1, etc.
They are in a different league some of them. Little more than a typical bolt on LS1.

 

03 and up cobra's are pretty quick, but they aren't naturally aspirated.

 

so in a nutshell, the LS1 driver forgot he had a pedal.
