Definition of Ricer !
Hi
I'm enjoying reading this forum, story is funny and i learn many things about inside of car through reading. Well explained statment and easy to understand. I don't like technical terms. I have no idea when car technician explains to me with all those fancy term.
Anyway, what is mean by "Ricer"?
1. Asian people
2, Asian car
3. The typical Rice-Boy can be identified by his car, or rather what he does to it. Generally, Rice-Boy will start out with a car that was not meant to go fast (typically a Honda Civic), and attempt to "fix it up".
4. #3 and little bit of 1
I just wondering, because during the reading, people mentioned this term so many times and I don't know what exactly they mean.
Here's one web site about rice boy, pretty famous, i think.

Pretty funny site and funny cars, i love host comments on ricers car.

I agree it has to be #3 or a modified #3 , there is rice (imports fixed up like #3) and then theres domestic rice (domestic dressed up like #3).
I do beleive though that the "rice" crowd is the people that put a fart pipe and cold air intake along with a few billet peices and think their car will run like the guy that has an import that has a well thought out combo wether it be turbos, nitrous, or N/A. The guys that work hard on their cars and know what it can do and its limitations are true hot rodders. I will praise them everytime , but arrogance and ignorance seem to walk hand in hand.

Ricers are by definition blind horses and no matter how many times you try to steer them in the right direction its up to them to take the water.
Ricers have no brand loyalties, no taste, no direction, no guidance and certainly no common sense. Ignorance runs rampant among them and they usaually have two mods equivalent to an intake/exhaust combo and talk **** about faster cars with every excuse in the book why their cars arent as fast but are better than said car.
Look deep enough, and youll see ricers sometimes arent as easily identified as youd think....but some of them are reading this right now

Ricers are the type of people who pick up Super Street because they like the huge wing on the Cover Car, and the rims on another.
There are only about 3 kids in my town that I know to like Imports and like them enough to know something about them. One has a kinda beat up Hatch with a GSR Motor, you'd never know though. Another has a Early '90's Integra with a B16. They know there stuff about Imports, and are the few who actually read the articles.
I cant tell you guys how many times I've looked at one of my friends Super Streets and gone, "Oh cool, its got a B18 and this and that." and they respond, "Really!? I didnt know." Realize that they've had this Mag for like a month. I read my GM High Tech mag cover to cover the first day I get it. It's just a picture book to most of these kids, or shall I call them Ricers.

I would get the JDM type-r front end (one piece headlights), some 17 inch rims, a totally redone interior, nice paint job, and probably switch my taillights to the second gen integra's tail lights. Of course the engine would be able to back it up, but to many it would be considered rice while to me, It would be beautiful

Its very simple. The rice scene has to do with pop culture. Right now japanese cars with big wings on the back (which is just retarted on a front wheel drive car dont even get me started) and really awful sounding mufflers/tips that dont do anything are whats popular. As a bit of a side note i actually think i saw a ricer once that had a big enough exhaust the i could stick my entire head in it. Anyways the point behind this is that rice is based on whats popular. The difference between rice and something thats not is when someone walks up to the ricer and says hey look at this its cool you should put it on your car they say COOL and puts it on their car. They have no idea what it does and in many cases it does absolutly nothing. You walk up to a guy that does not own a piece of rice and go hey you should put this on and he goes COOL why? That right there is the difference. Everything on a car should serve a function. Rice are cars that are made to look cool. Real cars are cars that do what they are ment to do. And i dont care if you have your whole engine tuned and have a rediculously fast car...the second you slap a body kit on it that sticks off of your car by about a foot and a half on the front on the back and serves no purpose you are now a ricer

see doug791, I get what your saying but some of the import culture isn't about the quartermile or the twisties at all. Its about looking good, and they spend tons of money on it. Its kinda like art to them, custom designing their paint, how their custom stero is built and fit, etc etc. Just like you wouldn't blast a lowrider for now running 13's stock or a "rapper's car" for having heavy *** 22 inch rims.

a ricer is a person who makes his car look like its fast before it is. like wings, body kits and the alike. i dont care if you have a import or domestic car your a ricer i have seen plenty of amer cars jacked up in the back with fat tires and pro stock scoops that get beat by mini vans and they are ricers also

The sport compact thing started out of pure neccesity. Going slow as you know is not very manly...so get quicker...then see who's quicker by lining them up.
Rice is what happened after that initial phase of going faster. Going fast is one thing but having style and speed is a whole other ball game...there inlies the root source of RICE coulture. Their twisted view of style.....Japan is home to many dumbasses and they can build cars too...unfoutunately the ricers cant tell whether said car is fast...nor do they care..but its bodykit is "off the hook" so they imitate it with poor execution and produce these ugly slow loud cars that to them "look cool" while the rest of us look and pity them. (I for one am past pity and have moved to ridiculing them)
There is a universal look which gearheads appreciate on the street...its called "clean" when a car is viewed as clean its accepted on both sides and all niches because its hard to dispute something with a universal clean appeal.
Ricers will never catch on to clean becuse their too busy wearing baggy pants and basketball apparell yO.
Hate the ricer not the car they choose to destroy..the car had no choice remember
one of the greatest things ive ever heard...
I forget the name of the guy who said it it was a program on TV its an hour long and its all about this guy who is given on of the new ford t-birds by ford and is told to make a custom car. The custom car was displayed at sema and the show has a big segment in it with christopher titus and as a side note was one of the coolest shows ive ever seen.
Anyways there is a segment that is just the guy who was put in charge of building the custom car talking and he said when you know you really did a great job with the car is when someone comes up to you and goes "wow man thats so cool....whatd you do?"
When you manage to customize a car so that every piece looks like it fits 100% and looks like it could have come off of a production line because it just fits the car so well. Then you have achieved perfection and this is the sort of thing that all true gear heads strive for.
Ricers on the other hand think weird bulges and body kits that stick 4 feet off of the car look "cool". Even though im one of them i think teenagers should be shot.

I hate imports
A ricer in my opinion is someone that has a slow car but tries to mislead others into thinking that it's fast. The two most common ways of doing this are by modifying appearance and exhaust:
Case #1)
When I see a granny-style Toyota Camry driving down the road with blingin' rims and a body kit I don't immediately consider the driver a ricer. But if the Camry runs 17's in the 1/4mile, can't handle for ****, and he brags about how his car is faster/can handle better, then the driver becomes a.........ricer!!
Case #2)
The all-so-famous jumbo exhaust tip and ridiculously loud muffler seen on many cars is not a dead give away that the driver is a ricer. If the car has a dual/dual 5" exhaust tips on each side, his car moves slower than a snail, and he claims that he'll walk me if we race.....ricer!!
In my opinion (PLEASE don't bash me for saying this) the companies that make aftermarket parts for imports are smart. They meet the demands for "performance" parts, even though they know the parts probably just be installed on a ricer's car. I'll be honest now; if I had the money to produce HUGE "ricey" aluminum spoilers/wings I honestly would do it. Hell, I'll get money off [what I would consider] bad taste.
