Can i beat a brand new Dodge Neon SRT-4?

This guy around here wants to race me in this car and he says hes going to spank me. i looked up the specs on it and it is in fact sort of quick. It has a manual 5 speed and i hear hes not a real whoopy driver. it has a turbo also with a blow off vlave maybe, which i dont know how that helps any, with like 230's range horsepower i believe give or take. My question is can i reel this one in? Car in sig.

not with that attitude, j/k srt-4's CAN run high 13's stock, you CAN run low 13's stock. I don't think any LS1 has to worry about a stock SRT-4.

Srt4s are preaty much as fast as Lt1s, but in my experience the lt1 start walking at high speeds. Your Ls1 shouldnt have to much trouble beating them, it takes alot more than a stock srt4 to hang with the Ls1 top end.

A stock LS1 should beat a stock SRT-4, all things equal. I typically lose to my friend's 2000 SS A4 by ~3 carlengths.

I'll be the lone dissenter and say if you race at your ~3500' elevation it will be close. The reason? Anything that has FI makes up in large measure for racing at altitude. Your motor can't.

Let us know how it turns out. Maybe I'm just totally out to lunch

I've never lost to a stock or a very mildly modded SRT-4 at 4000'+ elevation, with my current mods. But they are always pulling on me slowly and I get them at the 1/4 mile. If we did a roll race they would pull slowly on me at 4000'+ elevation. An LS1 should pull them at any speed, especially at sea level.

This guy ran a 14.29 at 102 in a stock LS1 at 4000'. Most SRT-4s are lucky to trap that at sea level. I bet the LS1 would not have much of a problem at any altitude (unless we are talking 6000'+ or some rediculously high altitude) with a stock SRT-4 from any speed roll.

At 3300 feet, shouldn't be a problem. Elevation shouldn't be taken lightly though. N/A engines loses something on the order of 3% for every 1000'. Plenty of places in CO that a stock LS1 will only be putting down about 260rwhp. Scary!

Had a great time driving through CO last summer, fun to see N/A cars gasping at the passes. Audi I was in was fine up till 9000 feet, then it started to lose boost. Highest point we drove was 10,500 feet. I was gasping at that point. Just think, a stock LS1 would only be putting down about 220RWHP!

I race at 4000', live at 5100' and drive over mountain passes at 9000'. Altitude kills power bad in my car.
