he said that because he doesnt get traction until 3rd, he was just making a guess. they were racing from a roll so take out the 1/4 mile time and with his setup im sure he could of taken it out from a roll.

From a roll 1/4 mile times dont mean much, since there isnt much traction issues or 60' times, its all power vs power vs weight. I see nothing wrong with the claims. My buddy with a LE2 H/C with bolt on's raced a C6 Vette from a roll and pulled on him easily. And yes he was racing too.

Traction is all part of a race. From a roll, if he should be running 11's, then yes he's going to take out a Z06. If he can't hook up from a dig, and he's "guessing" he runs 12.70's, then he's not going to take the Z06 out unless it's a 1/2 mile track. Anyway, good kill on the vette.

Other's already mentioned it, but from a roll, it's more about HP and weight. That's why I estimated his rwhp #'s. 12.7 would be a sad 1/4 mile time for his car, but like he said, it's due to lack of traction.

I have a ton of respect for the Z06's. A lady has a silver one here at work, and I love seeing it every time I go in our parking lot. (especially since I have the same front brakes as a Z06 now )

I am somewhat confused by what your trying to say here. But I'll try to explain my point a bit more.

First the race was from a roll. Stop thinking 12.7/11.9 or whatever, start thinking 118mph trap vs 110 or so mph trap as an exmple. Most Z06's dont run low 13's they run like you said mid to low 12's.

Now we'll use my buddy as an example since its almost the same case. 1997 LE2 H/C with full bolt on's, gears, TC (~400rwhp) vs C6 Vette (close to the LS6). Racing from a roll the LT1 has the stock Z06 or C6 beat since its more raw power. Now at the track your talking who gets better traction, 60', shifting, then power, weight, etc. The LT1 used here can pull 12.6's on street tires, now if the Z06 had better than 2.4 60's, like 2.0's, its probably beating the LT1 at the end of the 1/4.

Point is trap speed and pure power usually determines roll races, where at the track there are many other factors as listed above. You cant just say, you run 12.7 to a Z06's average 12.4 or whatever and think that no matter the race type the Z06 wins. Good examples are Cobra's pusing 600rwhp running 14's, where my 300rwhp car runs 13's. From a roll I am dead, at the track I win.

Elevation, driver, and temperatures are all key things to get a car moving fast. His car with his mods should beat a Z06 I would say

 

just curious as to what you think 114mph should be running. my trap speeds in 1/4 are 114 with juice. 105 w/o. it is a 75 shot on there. just curious!

Traction matters in every race, roll or stop. I agree that it's less of an issue from a roll. I guess all I was trying to say in this thread is I'm glad the race wasn't from a light, where it sounds like the Z06 may have had the edge because of traction issues, with the Maro reeling him in. How bout a set of sticky tires to end the traction problem?

 

Yes, Once I get some good tires I think I will be more of 11.9-12.2 for 1/4 mile and more around 116mph trap.

My biggest problem right now is traction, hence why I only race from a roll.

I will however be going to the track next sunday so I can get an idea of what I run on bald street tires.

 

Cheater That's a monster though. Let us know what you run when you do get some sticky's.
