Now I am still a newb to the racing thing these days.. So this may or may not be something to brag about...

Driving home from pool league on I4 at about 11pm tonight I pass a silver Porsche Boxster at about 65 and as I pass I give it a little gas... I did not see an attempt for him to catch up to my slow 70, so I brushed it off as a no go..

20 seconds later he goes to pass and I just barely caught it as I thought he did not want to go.. Well I hit it, catch up next to him easy, but we had to shutdown for traffic...

We get through the traffic and slow to about 65-70 or so.. I was watching him more than my speedo, waiting for him to hit it.. People don't seem to do that three honk thing around here, so I just watched and listened for his gas.. Sure enough he hit it, immediately followed by my doing so... Since he got the jump he pulled a half car, but soon followed by my reeling him in and passing him easy... I was stoked, even though I know Boxsters are the slowest of the Porsche line... We shut down with me 3 cars ahead easy at about 115, which was good since I still have a speed limiter...

I pulled up next to him to either go again, or give a thumbs up.. I got neither.. I could see he had a girl in there with him, so I think he was a bit upset... He wanted nothing more to do with my car.. I ran side by side for a good couple minutes hoping he would, but to no avail...

Well like said, I know it is only a Boxster.. But I am still pretty stoked.. I really love my car!!

Edit: Oops I was wrong, it was not a boxster.. I am not to up on my Porsches so I went to cars.com to look and make sure I got it right.. It was a 911, not a Boxster!!! Sweet!!! Now I am super stoked!!!

I was behind a Carerra 4 the other day, I wanted to run with him on the highway but he turned off too. It was a kid, he looked at me as I drove by. I coulda taken him.

Awesome kill! I had a similar experience with a 911 TT. We raced from ~10MPH to ~85MPH and he got me by 1/2 a car. I was hanging right with him the whole time since he got the jump! It sounds like your Porsche guy was feeling a little less cocky after getting his *** handed to him. Couldn't even give you a thumbs up. What a puss.

 

I read up on it and they have models optioned at anywhere from 320hp to 477hp.. I am guessing I was matched with the 320hp model...

I wouldn't doubt that they run eleven's, but aren't they AWD? I could be wrong, but that's what I remember. Whether they run eleven's or not, it was a good race and he pulled on me a little. I'm sure that if we raced to 120 he would smoke me, but we didn't. I would live to see one of these cars race at my local 1/8 mile track, but there just aren't that many around here.

I have raped a boxster s with my top down from a roll. I just pulled and pulled and pulled....i would be more worried about a 350Z or an S2000 then that...seems like its sloooooow.

 

I'm happy to hear anytime anyone that owns an F-Body beats a car with twice the price tag or greater. And to my Knowlege, the only car stock, running 11's is the Enzo Ferrari, and maybe the new Viper SRT-10 or Venom, whatever it's called it's too expensive for my blood. But I'm from H-Town and every jackass in a suite that has a Porsche thinks it is the fastest car on the road down here, that is untill they break their necks trying to see what it was that just passed them. That would be ME!

trust me, unless the 911tt driver started in 3rd gear, it wasn't a tt. prolly just a 911 carrera or carrera 4s.

911tt > 8.80@82 MPH with a 2.07 60' (by a pretty huge amount). a properly driven 911tt will pull a z06...

I meant cars that were not turned down or governed...that are sold in the United States. Sorry about that. You probably wont see a 959 or a Bugatti or Maclaren or klongesseig here in large productoin numbers.
