anyone raced a c6 z06 yet?
anyone raced a c6 z06 yet?
i heard a story that a guy w/ a 97z28 w/ a 383 w/ lt4 heads and a .600 lift cam smoked one...idk how true it is but he said he kicked it loose at 50 and quit when he was clearly won. idk how true this is but i know he doesn't have good tires or any suspension or rear-end work. but then again you never know if the z06 was giving it all either being its new. just would like your .02
thanks

thanks
it can happen. i will find out soon. the owner of the 15000 sq ft house im doing owns a zo6 with 2000 miles on it. i told him i wanted to race him after my car is broken in, and he said he would. i should be near 500hp to the wheels, and a zo6 has 505hp at the crank. and his is stock.
You need a certified low-11 second car to match/beat a C6 Z06
. If a 383 LT1 (built) can do that, then it's possible
. Keep in mind, there are a couple Z06's already dipping into the 10's stock!!
Only "mod" being sticky tires and very capable drivers
. They really are a weapon!

127+ mph traps from a stock car is just incredible. That GM was able to do it for the price of a Z06 is all the more impressive. It really makes you wonder how much faster they can get for a "normal" (sub-100k) market vehicle.
The horsepower from the LS7 is not underrated; it's the first motor that's rated using the new SAE standard that requires independent verification of the horsepower. In other words, the 505 SAE horsepower really is 505 crank horses. They have been putting down about 450 to the wheels, for a ~12% drivetrain loss.
I raced one over the summer from a 20 mph roll...Got him by about 5 cars to 100...I let out of it because we were coming up on some cars but he was pulling on me and would've caught me...Then he flipped me off

12 percent drivetrain loss seems low. i have never seen one that good
I think drivetrain loss is a higher percentage with low hp, but as a percentage, drops as HP increases.
(i.e. a 305 HP engine would lose about 45 hp, to produce about 260RWHP -15% loss...whereas the 505HP loses 12% to effect about 444RWHP. IF the 505 pulled
468RWHP that would mean that the drivetrain loss was only 7.3%!! (or the engine was way above 505HP).
If true, then I can only assume that GM engineers went the extra mile to remove the drivetrain losses through greater efficiencies, lower rotating masses, and different ratios for the accessories.

There was one at the 1/8 mile track around here a week or so ago. he was running high 9s - low 10's. The guy just bought the car though, still had temp tags. and he was literally spinning the tires all the way down the track. And i mean literally, not over exaggerating here.
. But it's obvious that the guy has more money than wits ..... if you're spinning the tires, why would you keep your foot into it?!
You're going nowhere fast doing that. But maybe because the guy just got it, he has to get used to the whole car ... the power, the clutch, and the !traction
.
