Re: Another low 12sec pass
U.S. gear made the 4.30's for GM when GM was selling the 7.5 10bolt to izuzu to use in there trucks.
I have been running the 4.30's for 2yrs with no problems.......except that I have to shift to 5th when I use the nitrous in the 1/4 mile. That will be ending soon thought cause this coming week I am putting the new Motive 3.90's in my 10bolt and make a run for "10's on the 10"
I would like to be one of the few that have run 10's on the stock 10bolt in a full weight, cam only, M6 on 17" 275/40 Nitto DR's and stock supension.

I love that clutch setup! Preloading is a must for the stock 10bolt with a M6, the only way to get a long life out of it like the A4's.
Re: Another low 12sec pass
What "I" mean by "preloading" is sliping the clutch and get the car to roll out a bit before backing off the clutch really quick. It just gets all the drivetrain tight or takes the "slack" out so you don't shock the small ring & pinion in factory 10bolt. The A4's stall converters do the same but much quicker.
To make it short......if you dump the clutch aka side step it or back out as fast as you can the stock 10bolt will not live long.

Hey - it's exactly that technique that lets some AWD car owners race 100 times without a problem while you'll see others who blow a tranny on every third race. Sometimes it's the hardware; sometimes it's the driver.
