Thumbs up 98-02 Camaro SS gets walked by my 95 LT1

So there I was driving along minding my own business when a really cool looking Camaro SS makes a right turn and pulls up beside me at about 40 MPH. He looks over at me and guns it so I drop it in 2nd and do the same. He got the jump on me but I slwoly pull ahead, hit 3rd- still pulling- hit 4th and he's 2 cars back in my rear view. I was at the top of 4th at this point so I let up. As soon as I do I see him start to gain ground on me. So, not wanting him to think he can out run me I stick it in 5th and just floor it and watch the speedo climb. Get back to about 2 cars apart then we both shut down. He get's up next to me with a huge smile on his face and saying something (but I couldn't hear him). I give him the thumbs up and take off.

It was a really cool looking SS. It may belong to someone on this site It was red.It had real HID headlights, 17s, and the old style "SS" badges on the side like on Brent's vinyl site. It had 3 or 3.5 inch slash cut exhasut tips so it may have had the loudmouth exhaust, I'm not sure.

Anyway, I feel better about my ol' 95 LT1 now that It can outrun an LS1 SS Camaro.

Well, I pay the uninsured motorists premium every month so when they totalled the car my ins comp gave me about $5K for the car, but they said I couldn't take anything off the car that would keep it from running (even though it's going to the salvage yard ). I was able to rip the Pioneer radio out though. I felt kinda weird stealing from myself, but..... that's how it goes.

Also ripped out my MSD 6A box/wiring and the spare tire and jack (I'll have to sell that on ebay soon). This whole thing just made me sick!! I had spent About $3K on the car in maintance (opti, waterpump, ect) and mods together adn I had only had it drivable for about 6 months. Brand new Eagle F1-g3s on the front (@$180 per). Just put those on 3 days before!!! Thank goodness I didn't get all 4!! I really did about throw up when I realized I had to leacve the car at the body shop... $3K down the drain.. Plus, it was an awesome looking car!! The love the T/A design, especally w/ the high rise spolier.

I'm kinda surpised I haven't had more replies than this. How much horsepower would I have to be making in order to outrun a 98-02 Camaro SS? The SS has about 335 HP right???

I got a 95 Formula A4 with the mods listed in my sig and I beat my buddies 99 SS M6 almost everytime we run! I thought it might be a fluke till I raced a 98-02 WS6 M6 and stomped a mud-hole in his A$$ too! I love the LS1's though....I brought the LT1 again because I didn't have a few extra $1000.00's laying around! My next one is a 5th Gen or LS1!
Peace,
Mike
