95 Z28 Convertible vs. 80's Monte Carlo

Normally I dont street race. This was my first race in probably a good year or two. It makes me nervous, but anyways ...

I pull up to a redlight. My sterio is on, but not too loud. I notice a older car next to me. Glance over, and it looks like a really nice Monte from the mid 80's. Looked like it had some custom orangish paint job but it was hard to tell with the street light on it. I glance up and see the blonde up front like . So im like OK whatever ...

I dont even look at the driver, turn back to looking ahead. Light turns green. I pull out like normal. He pulls out harder than me. His doors are at my fenders. I hear him nail it. I was still in 1st gear and I laid into it. Literally almost instantly he was behind me. I grabed 2nd really good and wound it out all the way. By the time I let off I had some good distance on him. Quite a few car lengths. When I let off he did the ricer fly-by, but it could have been because I didnt hit the brakes/he didnt realize I let off yet. Unfortunatly, he kept going in the left lane, and me and my girl friend were heading back to her house. Her street was coming up so I never got to talk to the guy about it.

The car was pretty loud, for sure had a V8, and definatly had some SERIOUS tires in the back. Them things were wide.

It felt good to finally get out there and be stupid again.

Also, forgot to mention the car was loaded down. It had 3/4 tank in it. Spare/jack/tools/oil in the back. Girl friend up front. No weight reduction on the car ... Yet. It does run pretty strong though.

Well, FWIW, it actually was faster than I expected. But once it was in front of me and I seen the rear tires ... I about **** myself. The thing was loud as hell, sounded mean as hell at WOT ( Until I was passed him and couldnt hear it anymore, all of about .5 seconds later ... ) and the tires were so wide, that I think if they were any bigger it would have had to be tubbed.
