95 Formy Vs. Turbo Civic

Well, I was cruising out of my neighborhood today, and when I pulled out to the street I noticed this white dropped hatchback civic that had nice 17's in the back and then the black steel wheels in the front. He was turning left at the light, so I decided to follow him(wanted to test out the new headers and was desperate). He goes from the light, and as soon as the road turns into a 4 lane I pull up beside him doing about 40mph in 3rd. I pace him for a second, and then he just takes off bunch of black smoke coming out the exhaust. I downshifted into second and pull about 1/2 carlength, then shift into third and he dissapears into my rearview mirror. Frankly I was suprised he kept up as well as he did, and when we both pulled up to the light I asked him what he had done to it. He said he had "just a small blower kit", and I told him I had headers and an intake, so he says to go from a roll this time. We get going about 10mph off the light, and he floors it pulling about 1/2 a carlength till I floor it, and again he stays pretty even with me till I hit the 1-2 shift . I turn at the next light and trade thumbs. Thought he was pretty cool for a civic driver.

BTW: At my altitude (5000ft above sea level) cars with blowers don't lose nearly as much horsepower as NA cars do. So, I might see a 15% loss in power whereas he might only lose 3-5%.

Why would you get flamed? A light car with a turbo even a civic should be able to stay for at least a second, nice kill .

Last time I went to the track, about 7 out of 10 Civics were Turbo'ed. I think almost all of them were in the 12's if not faster. I'd say you did pretty well.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about him keeping with you in first gear. Those fast hondas are much faster down low from a roll, than they are top end.

There's a guy at the local race track that used to have a CRX with a turbo on it and all kinds of other mods(he was a honda freak) Me and six or seven of my buddies, all of which have f-bodies of various years, have all handed him his ***. He now owns a 00 TA. We asked him why he converted, and he just laughed and said "If you can't beat em', join em'"
