Agreed. I'd get a WRX because I could drive it without feeling "ricey" I'd drive an STI if they ripped all that stupid crap off it...

 

Yeah srt-4's are just turbo neons, pretty gay if you ask me, I mean props for making a neon fast, but still pretty gay. So why all the hype? Why not just get a mans car that's just as fast?

 

Pretty gay? How old are you? Just because you dislike a car does not make it gay. Tell me, what in the hell is a "gay" car? A few posts back you say the SRT4, Evo and STI are all 14sec cars because that's what you saw at a track. Are you listening to yourself or do you automatically dislike any car that isn't a Camaro?

 

You've got it all wrong. I didn't say I dislike evo's or sti's. In fact if I were to get an import it would be an sti. I did say I wasn't impressed however that there were at least 5 of them that were running mid low 14's. I was expecting even with a terrible driver the car to run no less than a 13. The cars are rated to be faster than ls1's out of the factory. But you have to be a pretty sorry driver to run a 14 with an ls1.

And about the srt, the thing that's gay to me is neons. A lot of fagsa drive neons and it's a stupid car. Not saying the srt is the same just saying it's gay that they would base that off of a neon. And if it matters how old I am I'm 20. I also do respect srt's for what they can run, just would never own or drive one unless it was my girlfriends.

 

Im going to have to agree with above post.

If cars had a sexual orientation the Neon SRT-4 would undoubtably be homosexual.

The big turn off for me though is front wheel drive, which I've yet to see anyone in this thread mention.

And to me a performance car has to look cool and go fast, since 99% of the time I'm just cruising in it anyways.

So for that other 99% of the time I'm driving a neon.

Well put. I guess it all depends on your roots. Growing up with a father who has a Nova SS and 57 Chevy, and uncles/ cousins, with 1st and 2nd generation Camaro's, imports and compacts arent thought well of.

I was told that half the valves on the ZR1 were shut off until you got over 3500 rpms. So if you turned the key on the dash to full power, you still had to drive it pretty hard to get that ZR1 performance.

I will give the SRT people props for a nice motor though. Too bad they were forced to put it into a FWD **** box. The neon is at the automotive basement that is also occupied by Kia.

 

I don't think the valves themselves stop... GM only recently got that technology working right. I do know that the second set of fuel injectors don't start till about then, though. It's a good way of getting driveability and good fuel flow, although it adds to the cost. The new Ford GT engine also uses this feature, it helps with emissions too.

I remember when the SRT-4 first came out, and everyone that bought one was insisting that it wasn't a neon. A Camaro with a 427 C5R with ZL1 on the side is still a Camaro. It might be a little fun to stuff that SRT-4 drivetrain into something like a Miata, though.

 

SRTs arent gay. Just because its something you guys dont like, you dont have to go off calling it gay.

I'm gonna assume some of the guys calling it gay cant drive and got beat by one maybe?

Stock for stock they give an LS1 a decent run.

 

i think an SRT-4 will get spanked by an LS1. i raced an SRT-4 not too long ago in my stock 93 Z28, A4, and i won. it kept up for a little bit and then i just pulled on em. oh, and the SRT-4 was a manual.
