my uncle has been talking a ton of trash saying his S4 would walk all over me. its got the 340 horse V8 but its AUTO. i saw the 0-60 on it is about 5.6, and they are kinda heavy, and all wheel drive. i have a Z28 with intake, gutted cat, magnaflow catback, M6. if i get the suspension fixed (i hit a curb hard ) before i leave for school ill race him...but i am nervous if he rapes me ill never live it down. any thoughts?

 

i used to work at an Audi dealer. First of all i didnt even know that they made them in autos. The ones i drove were 6 cylinder bi-turbos. They were fast but I think a fast lt1 could take them. The engine you mentioned were on A8 and S8s back then.(4.2 liters on years 2001 or so )
After all, I think you'll have him, i drove an S8 with that motor and it was not that fast. I also drove a 320hp v12 bmw 750i and that diddnt feel that fast either. So i think these cars' specs look sweet on paper but not that fast when you drive them.

 

Just dont botch your launch. You SHOULD hang with him up top if your car runs strong ...

But if he beats you just rub it in his face how close it was, how much yours cost, how much better it sounds, and how much nicer it was not having to wiat until you are 50 years old to be able to afford "Fast" ****.

 

Various notes:
The previous version S4 (Twin Turbo V6), Automatic, gradually pulled my SHO from a 15 roll to 80. He was in front, and put about 2 legnths on me by 80.

I also ran an A8 4.2 Quattro, and I was able to keep ahead of him 10-60, and started pulling him much harder above 60.

So, my impressions are that the old car was a low 14 car, while the new one is probably a 15 flat/high 14 based on the A8's performance.

The old car was generally a low 14 second car out of the factory. The new ones are just a 340hp V8 and a tad heavier. They should be in the low 14's or very high 13's, maybe even mid 13's with a 6 speed and a good driver. That automatic is gonna hurt himn though. If he had a 6 speed and you guys went from a dig he'd probably take you for a little while.

 

And auto S4 can sneak out high 13s in the quarter if launched right, which isn't too tough to do.
