I raced a guy the other night in a bone stock 95 z28, i didnt want to race but his mouth got the best of me, so i finally seen how the mods paid off, we raced from a dig to around the 1/8th mark, i put a couple of car lenghts on him from the start and it was all over from there, i had him by about 3-4 cars before i laid off the throttle, this finally shut the punk up and i got to see how a stock car goes up to a slightly modded one
i havent updated the quater mile run yet because that is my best e.t. 10months ago with the only mod being the converter, hopefully next saturday i can go to the track and post my new times with the other mods ive done since then
i dont really think the mods did that much from the sound of it.You got the win due to a better launch. The difference between a litely modded car and a stock one are usually extremely minimal, so close that a blink of an eye lasts as long as the E.T difference between them

I have a 95z - a4 that I bought almost 2 years ago. I got it with 78,000 miles on it and it ran very well when I got it. First thing I did was pop in a K&N filter and head to the track. I was disgusted. 14.41@97mph ... UGH! WTF! Granted I was spinning in 1st but dam. Ok, so I build my homeade CAI , replaced opti cap and rotor, new wires and coil, gut the cat, and pop on some nitto 555's. Same weather same track but this time I put down 14.00@99.9mph . Not what I expected but hey, for less than $250.00 (not including tires) , I guess that isnt too bad.
Next , I got a tune from Bryan (pcmforless) , added the lt4-km, did the 160 thermostat, and added the airfoil and 1Le elbow. Went to the track with the laptop in the car and watched my knock retard hit 9 bacause of my passenger side exhaust leak..... The worse it gets the more K-R Im seeing. My O2 sensors are reading way different numbers prolly cause I have dumped too much throttle body cleaner and seafoam through the motor. I can only imagine how my cheap spark plugs look too. I have a fresh set of ngk - tr55's to go in but I have been holding out till I get these Hooker long tubes in. Also, I did not plan on going that day and I went and put fuel injection cleaner in the dam tank 2 days before.
I still ran 13.41@101.99 !WOW! If my assumptions are correct, when I clear up the little issues (plugs, O2 sensors, exhaust leak) , I should put down adleast a 13.2??
I will never know cause the next step (hopefully next weekend) will be adding the new longtubes and Y pipe, new O2's, plugs and updated tune.
I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for adleast 12.80's or so.
If I attain that, then the next step will be the 100 shot of dope.
Majority opinion is 100 shot will knock almost a full second off of your et. 11.9?? would be nice considering I havent cracked into the block (yet) lol.
It's kinda funny (if youre stil reading this) cause this all started when my buddy got his new 03 gt - 5sp. He smoked me by about 2-3 car lengths when we raced the first time. I did my mods and smoked him by 2-3 lengths.
He did his mods - 3.73's, C&L plenum and CAI, pulleys, and cat back w/ x pipe, and I still smoked him after my last round of mods.
Then he gets his BFG Dr's and we went to the track. I ran my best of 13.41 , he puts down 13.21 . The big ***** beat me dammit. So I tell him wait till I get my lt's and work out the bugs then I will have the braggin rights.
So what does he say? I will get a charger and smoke your ***. He says he should go 12.20's . I laugh and say he's dreaming and should expect more like 12.40's and that a 100 shot on my car after my next round of mods should put me in the 12 teens.
He gets all nervous after I got my Lt's shipped in and have already lined up a used NX kit for cheap.
So what does he do? Orders the $2500+ charger and immediately starts bragging. The irony to all of this is he gets the car back this past friday with his shiny new Vortech (or whatever it is) and comes over to take me for a ride in his "faster" car. He hits around 5000 rpm's and I can hear it detonating really bad.
The valve train sounded like it was about to fly out from under the hood. ( detonation right? correct me if Im wrong)
After dropping me off , he blew it up before he got home. It now runs on 7 cylinders and makes a horrible grinding noise, and he pulled the the #3 plug on the pass. side to find it crushed either by valve in the cylinder or maybe broken rod? He is praying he can get the car fixed on warranty but were not so sure due to the fact of the butchering of some things during the charger install. Its a shame considering he has almost $4000 in aftermarket stuff. He should have just spent it on a Cobra.
Poor baby, I guess I have the faster car now.

yes. My 60' has increased by alot. Worst I have run was 2.2 and higher I think. My average now is around 1.9
Im thinking I could have gotten better results last time out because I kept dropping pressure in the tires thinking they were too high (was spinning alot) and low and behold, I was simply not getting them hot enuf. By the time I realised that, I already had them down to 12psi. The track was shi&&y that day cause of the rain the night before. Staging lanes were full of water.

shallow staging I think. I always go shallow.
I never seen under 2. unless I hook up.
