A friend recently moved and I've been by to check out the new digs a couple of times. His neighbor saw my car, and apparently wants to race. He has a GTP, don't know what year. I think he's got a pulley and a cat-back and thats it from what I've heard. Don't know what these cars a capable of tho.
Anyway, should I talk to my friend and have him set up a race? I shouldn't have much trouble with him right?

I destroyed a few (stock or close to I think) of them in my bolt on LT1 but ive seen some fast *** ones running at the track.

 

There 250hp stock, cant really say anything else.

Most dyno 196ish stock.

A 3.4 pulley and support mods will get you 13.8-14.2s.
Catback is worthless.

If you dyno 300hp you will have ZERO problems with even a decently modded one, let alone a mildly modded one.

 

I had a young kid try to play with me on the h-way the other day on the way to the track with my wife in the car....so that was not going to happen.

It would have been ugly anyways....he also went to the track and he was running 15.2's@92-93vs. my wife's car running 13.7's@103.

 

What's your elevation canton? 15.2 sucks my nuts.

 

A blistering 1100'....DA was in the 2300' range though.

 

u will walk him my brother has a gtp wit 1.84's rr rt down pipe 3" flowmaster cat back 3.4 pully n CAI and i walked him wit my mostly stock ta just cat back n 1le elbow n cai no problem o ya forgot ta mention i have 2.73's n still drove away wit it

 

When did you start to pull? Cause my GTP with those mods was mid-high 13s. He should've been even or possibly pulling under 60 and you should've started to walk at about 80 and run at 90.

 

wel we raced at norwalk ohio n we video taped it it looked like we were pretty even off the line wit those pud gears i started to pull round round 80 like u said he spun some off the line but i didnt i think his best was like a 14.1 my best was a 13.95 IMO not bad for the mods

 

doesnt take alot to run high 12s in a gtp i have seen them run that on nitrous

Did he run the stock 3.8 pulley then!? 14.2 is FAST for basically just rockers.

I ran 14.2 with the pulley and no rockers. Rockers won't give you the large torque increase of the pulley.

This thread makes me want a GP again.... but I'm happy(er) with my TA.
