I was a road near my house earlier and 06 gto which i later found was stock was cruising with me so gave him a look.. next thing i knew was a red light we talked and said we would run on green to 100.. i was very surprised for my very near stock lt1 i was even with him till about 85 then he got me by about half a car.. I thought for sure that 400hp on that would easily have got me by car lengths. I guess i under estimate the power of a lt1. I wasn't very mad because it is a GM car. If it was a ford or dodge. or worse a ricer i would have been pissed

the HP of the Ls2 is sweet, the weight of the goat is rediculous!
3800+lbs w/400hp
3540 lbs w/275hp

Good race!

Was the other car a stick? Sounds like a terrible driver. Even with the weight difference the LS2 Goat should romp a near stock LT1. Just goes to show that anything can and does happen on the street!

No it was a auto.. I was just surprised it was that close of a race. i think if i added headers i could prolly take him. The thing with my car is the guy before me rebuilt the engine and trans so i'm not 100% if thats all thats done. Cause everyone that rides in it even other camaro owners says it feels strong for just that

Honestly, it sounds like there is more to your car than you know, or you just ran into a bad driver. The GTO's power to weight is along the lines of a LS1 F-body.

On paper, there is no reason it should have been that close. Of course, paper doesn't always tell the story. Good race and way to suprise him.

Now I will just sit back and wait for all the GTO bashers to buzz in ...

Yeah the more i think about it theres prolly something more done to my car then i know. I wanna find someone who will dyno my car for less then 800 cause that is a waste of money in my eyes. I might bring it down to the dragstrip this weekend and see what it runs

i have a place that specializes in mustangs that tried to charge me 800 for half a day. and laughed when i said i just wanted a few pulls. i would do that for 50 just to see what it puts down. im gonna go talk to a speed shop tomorrow

What the hell kind of shop did you go to? Even if they were tuning it for you that would come out to like $200 per hour.

Yeah, a baseline dyno should be no more than 100-125.
