93 A4 2.73 vs 97 GT Mustang
93 A4 2.73 vs 97 GT Mustang
This Fri I have a run scheduled with a 97 GT..he has the PI swap done, if you don't know thats the 99+ heads/cams onto the 96-98 motor. Ends up with 10.5:1 CR and 35-50 HP gain. However, the kid cannot drive worth donkey nuts, and never got below a low 15 before head swap. He's untuned and running stock exhaust manifolds.
I have a CAI and a high flow cat/TB bypass, and fresh Potenzas.
Me or him?

Sure he did the swap?
Who would do all the work and still run stock manifolds?
Sounds fishy to me.
Them things sure are slower than all **** though when their stock
And the lack of torque makes them a poor excuse of a pony car.

Yea thats what I mean though. It gets you some power, but it gets you alot more to throw headers on it. And if you already have the heads off, how long does it take to throw headers in. Mustang parts can be found relatively cheap too.

But you're right, if you already have the heads off, it makes a lot more sense to go ahead and put headers on. But.... have you ever changed headers on a 4.6? If you think an LS1 or LT1 is a PITA... try the 4.6 ... took me 12 hours to do my headers with stock K member. Not an easy task and VERY time consuming.
The poster is right as well. Putting PI heads on a 96/98 block = approx 10.5:1 CR.

No, I didnt mean you would get more power from the headers than the heads.
I meant, that you will make alot more power throwing headers on it, especially if you already are swapping the heads. And if the heads are already coming off, you already have the manifolds off. If the manifolds are off, you have to be a ****ing idiot not to put headers on then. And its not like you have an excuse like its to hard to do if you already have the heads off.
Things just dont add up.

I love when they chicken out.
