Talking 90 stang vs 04 vette!!

Holy crap, finally a good race froma worthy opponent. Went to fill up the stang with gas and was coming home when I noticed some sweet corvette lights pulling up behind me. We come next to eachother at a light but have a few cars in front. so we start off and i let him in front of me and an opening opens up in the right lane. he punches it and gets a chirp and i do the same. i am right on his bumper the entire way and coming up strong. I spray the juice and fly by him in the left lane. I must have taken him by a couple cars before shutting down!!! next stop light i roll my window down and ask him what year it was. He asked if mine was "worked up"? haha freaking sweet though. i think my baby is finally running right after changing o2 sensors and setting TPS. Thought I would share!

jim

PS what do these 04 vettes run in the 1/4 mile?

Ramune, hev is talking regular vettes; not ZO6. A regular stock vette usually runs in the 13.1-13.5 range depending on driver. Last time I was at the track I lined up against a C5; He ran a 13.2 to my 13.4.

i have a 90 lx hatch back. my last mod will be a super charger hopefully next year (if the wife will let me )

i didnt think the regular vettes ran mid 12's. but, i know to be very careful of those z06's!!! not many cars to race around here in rochester ny, so when you get one and actually win, it is sweet!

Cool

Nice kill. It's nice to see a cocky vette owner take a fall. Even if it's done by a stang.

i like fast cars whether it be a stang, camaro, geo metro. my buddy has a 99 z 28 and we have our little fun rivalries ( no competition though) haha (his is stock). anyway, as long as the car is fast and they like to race, its all good with me. if a camaro kicks my *** i still give a thumbs up this guy was a good sport about it, however he is probably wondering how the 40K he spent on his car got beat by my 6k car!!

I thought the 04's were the ones with the Ls2 and the newer headlights. But those are probably the 05's

im not sure-
2 more races tonight though. one against a 96 Z and another against an old firebird that looked pretty nice. the first one against the z i felt kinda bad beating him good with his girl friend in the car. i rolled down the window and asked what year it was and all he said was 96; then rolled up his window. this is after i beat him 3 consecutive times really bad. had car lengths within seconds. anyway the other one the guy wouldnt go from a stop light, so i waited for him to come next to me. when all of a sudden he punches it w/o me knowing. i quickly get on it and catch him and pass by him as well.

i will have new track times on wednesday hopefully with DR's. any guesses what i will run with DR's and spraying (75 shot). i was going 112 mph last year spraying starting in 3rd gear!

MN1996Z28SS is right. Typically low to mid 13s C5s, with good drivers dipping into the high 12s. If it's an A4, it also depends heavily on whether it has the base 2:73 gears or the performance gears (3.25? I don't remember)

BOM2000, the '05 Corvette will get the new LS2 6.0 liter motor putting out 400 Hp. All accounts so far say that it will be just slightly slower than a Z06 at the strip and on a road course. The next version of the Z06, due out in a few years, is supposed to put it back in a head-to-head battle with the Viper. Rumor has it that it will be close to 500 Hp. I'm guessing it will be more like 450.
