I beat a 3.4 firebird the other day in my 2.0 Hyundai Elantra. Hell, I have beaten one in my beater Sunfire and in my old 3.3 olds station wagon in the past as well.

Maybe a mark III, but a Mark VIII will walk all over it. There is an over 100 hp difference between a GT Grand Am and a Mark VIII. I outran a 99+ auto GT on the highway one day from 70 to aruond 120, had him by a car and a half. Mine ran the time in the sig with a bad waterpump (drag) and a sticking brake caliper. It was a good bit stronger after those parts were replaced and a real sleeper. Had I added gears and a T-Lok it would have been in the high 13's with a MPH of 99-100. The new owner is adding those mods.

Re: 90 Foxbody vs 99 Z28?

Guys.......I'm an old Ford man, take it from me those old 5.0 cars can be made quick. 1st he has less weight about (500 lbs) which is around 50 HP to start with. The Fox body car Hooks very well and Those 8.8 rears will take it. Remove the quad shocks for weight transfer and the sway bars and it will launch. Stock (225) and a 100 shot........look out. I drive Chevys now because motor against motor they rule. If you friend is building a 5 speed car, guess what?? it's going to be fast but that T-5 will not hold for long. I've built lots of those cars and love the 5 speed but all of them broke. That's one reason I'm in the Z28 T-56 Even the weak ones in the 93-94 LT1's will hold 400 Ft Lbs of torque.
