Re: 88 Camaro New PB in 1/8

I dont expect any gain. Im replacing a junk 10" for the time being to get the car back driveable. This converter is simply a temporary replacement. I was merely stating the only thing that changed. I am well aware of the pros/cons of different converters. This thread is merely a log of the car's changes over the years.

Lockup and a plate cooler will solve the heat concern. The trans temp gauge will tell me otherwise. I dont expect it to run any hotter then the old piece of junk I had in it.

In a couple of years, Im going to do a revamp of the car. Increased stroke, heads, cam, custom converter, rearend. But for now, this is a backup car/toy.

The TC I had in it was a mistake. I went cheap and bought a $450 ACC Boss Hog 10" converter. 6k miles later and the hub cracked. In the long run it cost me a lot more in fluid, flexplate, pump bushing, new torque converter, etc, not counting my own labor pulling the transmission 3 times. I basically proved to myself that I shouldnt have went cheap. If I had only spent the $700 on a good Vig, Edge, etc, I would have had less money in it and less labor. Live and learn.

I know this is an old thread, but when you get ready for a good converter, check out yank. I had a 70 camaro and went from a ptc 3200 to a yank 3200 because the ptc went out and picked up almost 3 tenths in the 1/8th mile. I was extremely pleased and happy as I wasn't expecting that at all.

Yeah in a couple of years I plan on doing some work to the car. At that time I will be considering yank, vig, edge, ptc, neil chance, etc... Id also love to move to a 383, higher compression, some afr vortec heads, a set of dyno don's headers/y pipe.

Right now Im paying off student loans and loving life. Spending as much time as I can with the wife, daughter, family, and friends. Give me a couple years to get the loans knocked out and I'll get the car looking better and running faster. For now, she is my daily driver and doing a good job at it.
