You're running an aftermarket cam and you haven't even slapped on your CAI yet? Put it on, you can do that in less time than it takes to change your oil.

not exactly piecing together my own. Running open element right now, Im working on hooking up the TPI intake up to the carb. Ive got a bonnet for it, but I need to grind it out to fit the carb. Wont take too long, but been working on more important stuff when the time comes up.

Should be able to get it on this weekend. Hopefully it will work if not i'll just order a carb hat from spectre.

CAI is on, had to order a low profile carb hat from spectre to get it to work. Stock height will not fit under the stock hood.

LCARBs are also installed and the carb has been tuned alittle.

1.5 Roller rockers will be going on thursday evening. (didnt have enough seal-to-retainer clearance for the 1.6s)

If the weather is willing I'll be back at the 1/8th this friday night.

yeah Im enjoying watching her slowly get faster. I'll keep updating as things get added.

I did get the rockers on today, getting some things ready now and heading towards the track around 5. Hopefully I'll post up later with no problems

Well I worked on the car just to make it slower I reckon.

Best time last night was a 8.59 at 73. Car has a slight hesitation right off the line. You can watch the nose rise, fall, rise, right out of the hole. Doesnt seem to be spinning any, car just has that low rpm hesitation. You can also feel it stumbling at low rpms when you drive slow. Mostly right around 1400-1800 is where it is most noticeable. Top end is running pretty good.

We pulled the CAI off to see if that was the problem. Car ran its best time, but still fell off the line. Not sure what the problem is. Im going to go back and check some stuff.

Only thing I changed on the carb was 1) set the float levels to where they just almost trickle out 2) with a vac gauge hooked up I adjusted the idle air screws to get the most vac 3) Set the accellerator pump at 0.015 clearance.

Nothing else was touched.

Bought some jets and nozzles to play around with on friday. Also bought some stuff to dial in the timing. Going to start with 36* total coming in pretty quick to see if it likes it. Thats what was recommended to me.

Also definately swapping the secondary spring. Found out it has the black spring in it now

Going to double check some stuff thursday evening, then friday day Im messing with the timing and carb. If all goes well we will be back at the track friday night for test and tune.

possibly.

It is what was recommended to me by several different companies though. It is on the tighter range of recommendations, but it will have to work. Not a drag only car anyways.

Right now I need my carb to be dialed in (which I think Im pretty close) and a set of slicks (next year's budget) to get the 60' down.

Sounds like got a nice little project going. What do those times translate into 1/4 mile times?

Rough calculation would be 13.2ish...

Re: 88 Camaro New PB in 1/8

Well I figure it is time to update this thread.

I got the carb dialed in to where the car is running great. I still think that it will go 8.20s at that track.

However, my wife and I are expecting our first child in July. A little girl. My wife is out of work for awhile so all performance parts are on hold.

Will wait and see. Hopefully next year I'll be on slicks. This year though, family first.

Re: 88 Camaro New PB in 1/8

I figured I would go ahead and update.

Nothing has changed with the car over the past year except for having to replace the torque converter. Nothing special, just a 2600 stall 12".

If all goes well, Im going to try and find a used set of 16" 4th gen wheels for the back and mount a set of drag radials or slicks to them. I would like to race the car some this summer and I just cant get it consistent on the street tires. We will see.

You'll see no gain with that. Maybe even slow down a little. 12" converters are basically reworked junkyard units. 2600 is high for a 12", so what you lose in ET you'll gain in heat
