67 Mustang and DSM :)

Driving home from school 2 nights ago, recognize an old mustang in my rearview... he startes tailgating me, then dropping back, then punching it and getting up right on my bumper. It really pissed me off because those cars have drums all around and i didn't want to get rearended. there was an opening in traffic so he pulls up next to me, toying with me, egging me on (dumb). we got stopped at a light him right beside me, i could hear my exhaust bouncing off his car... he starts powerbraking, only holding the powerbrake the ENTIRE length of the redlight , too bad I could BARELY hear his powerbraking over my idling, but i see it's a young kid with spiky hair, the kind most chicks would probably be attracted too so i let traffic get a ways ahead of us, at about 30 he punches it first, when I roll into it he's 1 car ahead. By the time I hit 6200 in 2nd (70ish?) I was 4+ cars ahead, I got a ricer flyby also. To make matters worse for him, he lines up next to me to make a left hand turn, when the light turns green he rockets off of his powerbrake, body roll like crazy.

OK, so you didn't beat me from a roll, you think you're gonna beat me around a corner on your 40 year old suspension with my 315s on the back?! Oh well, I just wish his girlfriend could have been in the car , or at least mine so she could laugh at him and give him the finger.

GOOD RACE:
driving along i see and hear a dsm coming up behind me pretty hot, hear the turbo and bov quite aways behind me, so I got a little nervous. An old bearded guy pulls up next to me with an eagle talon awd, gutted interior. he smiles, gives me a thumbs up, and then takes off. We were going about 35 and with how fast he took off I thought he was going to smoke me. But he slows back down, even with me and motions for me to go. So I drop it into second, cutout blaring in his face, and hammer it, gettin a little bit of wheelspin. He hit it almost at the same time, so I jump a car. Raced until the very top of 2nd (6600 rpm, 80 mph?) and i maybe pulled another fenderlength on him. We got stopped at the light, where he got to hear my car idle for the first time him and his passenger got wide-eyed, and said "badass car man!" I replied with the same, he said he had like a "50-trim" turbo on it. I've never heard of that but he said he estimated 300 hp, which I dont' doubt at the least. Anyways he pulled an AWD launch at the green light and his front end pulled up so high I said "damn!" to myself. Anyways, cool old guy driving an actually fast dsm, I'm glad he didnt' smoke me

a 50 trim is a decent turbo, if he has the right supporting mods behind that he should be closer to 350 whp.

Cool man, it's nice to race people besides punk kids that have no respect. And like mentioned, a 50 trim is a farily decent turbo, should be putting down at least 300awhp.

obviously wasn't running its best if I was even with him, remind me never to race him in the future at least until LE3 package and 75 shot in 2 months, hehe

Re: 67 Mustang and DSM :)

I had a 92 talon awd with AGP RS49 50 trim.
It was pretty damn fast but stock clutch and stock sidemount intercooler held it back. I bought a better clutch and huge front mount but sold the car off and bought my 97 talon and now going big on that one.
They are fun cars and can be very fast with the right mods.Pretty easy to work on too for the most part.
My v8 f body club buddies got a bit of attitude adjustment after giving them a ride in my turbo talon.Even my 420 rwhp 99 silver SS buddy who left big fingernail marks in my passenger door armrest..He was white as a ghost.Car scared him a bit.Pretty impressive for a 4 banger.

Love turbos so much planning on turboing the 99 next year.

arent' their drivetrains pretty fragile? i thought they break the stock axles in a hurry trying any kind of aggressive launch on decent power.
