Thumbs up 430rwhp 2001 Mustang vs 312rwhp 99 C5 LONG

I was driving up north with a couple of buddies of mine and we were going to the mustang guy's cottage at Lake Joseph. This kid has it made, parents are loaded, he does sweet fanny annie all day, he's only 28 yrs old. He buys this 2001 Mustang that looks exactly like an S281 inside/out. The car has a Vortech SC with ice box intercooler and dyno's 432rwhp. Nice looking car that can induce heart attacks when it revs...He paid $54K CDN for the car.

My C5 friend has a 1999 targa that has CAI & cat back. He dynoed 312rwhp along with my miserable 283 rwhp. He bought this car at auction for $19K CDN. So we are doing a few rolls with no cars around and I cannot believe my eyes. Both started in 3rd, the C5 had a half car into 4th, then a 1-2 car into 5th and pulling hard on the stang up top.

This was 2 weeks ago, now I hear the S281 look-a-like is for sale and " Mommy, daddy, I want a Viper." LMFAO

These guys know how to drive, I am just amazed at how gearing, aerodynamics and weight determine the outcome and not a piece of paper!!

432hp vs 312hp? The outcome should have been different. Other factors could have made a difference such as gears, auto or manual trans, driver skill and weight but something still doesn't sound right.
Thats what makes street racing so unique I guess.

I agree, it doesn't sound right, but I was there, both cars are running good and both WOT, no missed shifts, no rev limiter blips. The mustang guy has a bit of an ego and would not of given up. Any other thoughts as to WTF?

If my car had 430 hp and got outrun by a vette with only 312hp then I would checking my car for issues. Sounds like the stang has got some problems. However I would also be able to tell if it had 400hp or 300hp just by driving it. If you've ever had 400rwhp then you don't forget that feeling.

Something definitely wrong with this, if the Mustang was healthy he should have stomped the crap out of the C-5. The Mustang should be no slower than low 12's.

Well the mustang had an icebox intercooler, right? so if it wasn't filled with fresh ice (you were on a long highway trip, so it was melted or just warm water by then), then he'd probably have a lot less hp, maybe only 300-340?

Just a thought.

good point, the ice box should be good for 1-2 hrs we may have been in the 2-3 hr range.

There's always a BS'r in the crowd. This is what happened, it was a fun road trip with a bunch of guys & gals nothing more.

Oh, oh, oh look honey there is another post about a car losing to another one....quick, quick, do I hit the thing with the stick flag thing and press which button again...

That dyno number for the vette sounds a bit low too. I know they dyno lower than fbodys due to the IRS, but with a couple mods that's it?? Maybe his was a mustang dyno to make it even closer?
