wtf is wrong with the 350z guys . now days even in stock trim they're picking on every v8 on the road , some of them are saying latest stock fbodies are mid 13's cars, some of them are saying low 13's on this cars, is a hyping thing created by the fbody boys. everybody knows, ls1's are faster than 13.5 in stock trim, so WTF????, some of them doesn't even know there wasn't a 03 or 04 SS, and still with a another guy on the car, 30lbs sub on the trunk, and f***k up tires, he was able to keep up half car back


here is the story

"So my friend and i were cruising like we do every so often, theres this strip in our area that is sports car central at night on the weekends. Anyway We waited at a gas station for a good pack of cars to drive with, and about 15 camaros go flying by in a pack so i pull out and catch up quick. I quickly fly past about half of them and get caught up in the pack of them on purpose to floss the Z. Well on this particular boulevard there is a "red light district" where for about 5 blocks its nothing but blinking red stoplights to discourage street racing. I lined up with basically the fastest camaro out of the entire pack at one of these lights, It was i believe either an 03 or 04 Camaro SS and we revved at each other at the light.

I really didn't know the stats on Camaros so i didnt know if i was wasting time or if i was going to get my *** handed to me. Well we took off and let me tell you, that thing was A BEAST! Off the line i had him but as we both shifted into second he started pulling on me HARD. He passed me shifting into 3rd and as we shifted his front tires almost left the ground. He only beat me by half a car length, but let me tell you, that thing was fast. At the next light i talked to him, he was a nice guy and he told me he had done a lot of mods so i didnt feel bad about my first loss. I pulled over to the next lane over and let a black Mustang Cobra race him, and he tore the mustang a new one horribly, a lot worse than he beat me. I just looked up the Camaros on the internet when i got home from work tonight and i didnt even realize that they had the LS1 engine, i guess guys run 13.1s with those camaros stock. Wow i am happy i even stayed with him.

I am 4-1 now. I have beat a Mustang mach 1, WRX, another 350z, and a turbod celica GT with my loss to the before mentioned camaro.

BTW, i had a 30 lb sub in my trunk, a passenger, worn out stock tires/rims, the spare and everything in the trunk, and my pullies have not been installed yet "

he only got beat by 1/2 a car length b/c the camaro quit early probably for the stop light.. Im sure if they continued it'd be a bigger gap.

Just to let u know that they never made a 03 or 04 Camaro SS, Camaro and Trans Ams stopped production in 2002 and i promise the Camaro must have been stock because any modded SS would have left u atleast 3 cars back.

Alittle curious.. Why would anyone buy a Mach 1 over a Terminator Cobra? Was it you couldn't afford it or just preferred the Mach?

As for the 350Z's.. There's a Twin Turbo 350Z owner in Phoenix that had his *** handed to him by me. He ran a 13.1 to my 11.9. He wasn't too happy.

 

No they are not as fast as a 98+ SS. In fact an LT1 should be able to over come a stock 350Z. Which is probably about on par with a WRX.

i see alot of 350z guys that hear a friend of a friend say that they run 13.2's or somthing then they all think that there car actually run those times

don't get me wrong i like the cars nice look rwd i give credit to nissan but people play them up so much it's almost like a vette most people that aren't knowleable that have a reg c5 think that its in a different class then everything else its the same with the 350z guys even us f-body guys sometimes have a complex where we don't beleave any imports can beat us even after a 10 second DSM goes flying buy

i raced one from about a 5 roll, from 5-85 i could only put him to my door.

 

I would be suprised if i ever saw a stock 350z with "bald tires and other crap" in the 13's.

well in my case i couldn't let it pass, i got her for $25000 after rabates. a cobra was $35000 by that time, so i think $10000 save was enough to convince myself to get her.

 

quick off topic question. Does the Mach 1 have a forged bottom end also?

As NBS4 said, no...but the Mach does have a shaker hood and even NBS4 will tell ya:

shaker hood > Eaton + forged internals
