300zx Tt

So later today Im going with my buddy to pick up his car he just bought on ebay... Its a 92 or 93 300ZX TT 5 spd with newly rebuilt engine and new STOCK turbos , some ecu work , gutted exhaust and new catback and the boost is at 15 psi. So of course an acceleration contest is in order!! We'll probably go from a 30 or 40 mph roll... I have a bad feeling im gonna get raped on this one. any predictions? Ill post results as soon as we give it a go. Hopefully I can hang with him somewhat.

If you still have the drag radials then I feel you can get him out of the hole, but its going to be tough if its a true twin turbo car. A few mods and they can really move. This guy had one a few years back and we watched him run at the track. He was all stock except for exhaust and a 50 shot of nitrous to get around the turbo lag (he said...lol) and was running mid 11s in the 1/4 mile.

Thats pretty stout if you ask me. Now those mods cannot be verified as truth as he could have had quite a bit more than telling. We honestly will never know, and gotta just take it at face value.

Race him and find out for us.

That dude was lying to you. A 50 shot and exhaust will put the car in the low 13's at best. I had a 93TT before I got the GTO. Intake, exhaust, Jim Wolfe Ecu, boost controller, fuel computer, running 17 psi or so and it made 335 rwhp and ran high 12's. A fifty shot and exhaust puts that guy at about 310-320 rwhp.

To the original poster, race him from a dig. Up high he'll pull you, especially with your a4 and TC.

Well, we ran em friday nite! We went from 30 mph to about 115 - 120 mph. He started in 2nd @ about 4000 rpm. When we went, his car pulled me about 3/4 of a car length, and when he was in 3rd I pulled back even. When he was in 4th, we stayed dead even ; it was as though we parked next to each other in a parking lot when in reality we were going over 100mph!! Great race! I really thought I would get walked on this one... Makes me proud of my car... tear. Ha ha. anyway well go from a dig when he gets drag radials and then ill show him what time it is!

From a dig you will win. My friend had a 95 pearl white 300zxtt (very nice car), Jim wolfe ecu, hard pipes, down pipe, test pipe, CAI, exhaust, it would hang with/beat stock to slighty modded LS1, but from a dig he got slapped around big time. 3.0 tt with spool vs V8 grunt down low = not good. Nice run.

Wow, that's very surprising. Stock vs. stock the 2 cars are almost dead even. Considering he has power adding mods and you really don't have much, I would've bet on him.

Wow, I'm very surprised by those results. If he's got what he says he's got, he should be making close to 300 rwhp. With only exhaust work and tune, I would expect you to be short at least 30-40 hp. Good run!

Get the drag's back on and go from a dig. You'll have no problem then. Those cars are sneaky, a stock one is no match but you get one with upgraded turbos and a ECU tune then you better watch out because they can be fast!

My drags are on, im waiting for him to get some! I know my car doesnt sound like alot but even my tc helped me up top. It always stays in the powerband I gained over 2 mph in my trap speed with it. Any way we found out he has head gasket issues ... still runs good cuz i drove it but maybe its costing him some power? I dont know. Still most fun races ive had in a while.

Sounds like his "newly rebuilt" engine may not have been done so well. With cheap mods he should be trapping 105+ mph.

Yeah, he talked to the nissan dealership where it was done and it sounds like they didnt use anew head gasket! I asked him what he was shifting at and he said around 5900 - 6000. So he probably could have went to 6200- 6300 and maybe edged me. It was his first day with the car so he just needs to mess with it some after the head gasket is in .
