2004 Mach 1 vs 2004 Lightning

A couple of races between a couple of friends of mine. The mach is a 5 speed. The lightning just did a pulley swap, got a new tune and a set of DR's. He ran a 13.2 with the pulley swap last weekend but doesn't have any times with the tune & DR's. Sorry for the **** poor quality of the video. I was using a friends camcorder which obviously has a focus problem.

Re: 2004 Mach 1 vs 2004 Lightning

The Mach 1 is my friends. His mods are CAI,Predator,X-pipe and Catback. He just bought it about a month ago. My mach is DSG and his is Comp. Orange. Hopefully I can get a few N/A runs between us when he gets in from offshore.
The owner of the Lightning did do the pulley swap and got a mail order tune. He ran a 13.2 @ 104 mph last weekend. His previous best is 13.8.

I gotta say, the way the Mach 1 was spinning from a roll, the thing looks to be pretty fast. Those things are impressive compared to all of the previous N/A Mustangs.

You should drive one, especially a 5 speed. With a 6800 redline it's a joy to feel it pull through the gears.

I ran 13.3 @ 106 mph stock. The average manual mach will usually run low to mid 13's. The autos are a little slower and usually run mid to high 13's.

310 FWHP 320 FWT
270 RWHP 280 RWT

Had one beat me in My LT1 a few weeks ago. He wasnt stock but he ran low 13's with very few bolt ons and trapped a respectable 107. Those things pull great 60's right out of the box. He took me off the line enough to where catching him was a lost cause. My 2:73's SUCK at the track.

Bye the way, Hodge, The mach is looking sharp buddy. Wanna race? LOL.... Looks good man.

Drove one of my friends and it makes very very good power for its cubes. Kinda reminded me of my best friends 97 Cobra he used to have. The Cobra felt stronger but Oddly enough wasnt..GO figure?

Thanks! I try to keep it clean. I ran 12.1 @ 116 mph on the gas but couldn't get the dr's to hook. Hoping for some 11's next time out.

With those trap speeds 11's are obtainable. I just joined the 11 second club a few weeks ago!..he he..the cammed LS1 came thrue. On stree tires I ran a 12.02@120,12.1@119,and a 12.1@120. I put on some slicks" Was scared Id get towed home" and launched it fairly light. Not too light but just enough. After a mild launch the car had a slight bog"needs 4:10s" wich didnt do much for my times. Kept me in high 11's instaed of mids. I did do the bore mod on the Clutch slave and now it glides thrue the gears at higher RPM's.

Why dont you throw a blower on the mach? I hear guys are getting Awsome responses to Superchargers with the machs.
