1998GT4.6 vs Modded LT1

Today I was on HWY6 when I see a black LT1 that I used to race back when I had my old 98 Motor, he used to be able to get me as I would be going into 3rd and basically walk away from me. Well, I wanted to see what would happen this time now that I got the 2001 Motor in the car. I pulled into a gas station and asked him what he has and whatnot, it was an auto, with 3.23 gears, Edelbrock LongTube Headers, "Modified" TB?, Moroso Cold Air Intake, and a Hooker Cat-Back. He said his best time was a 13.8@101, and that he was spinning when he ran that time. He went into the station to get me and when he came out I told him to follow me to a nice strait away so we could get some runs in.
As we approach the stop sign I tell him to get rolling and I will honk 3 times, we get rolling about 10-15MPH and I get on the horn, threw 1st gear I jump out about a car and when I pull down to 2nd I pulled another car and then I was super cool and missed 3rd gear. He passes me up and gets on the brakes, I never got into 3rd gear just stoped at about 70MPH with a 2 car lead.
Next he wants to go from a dead stop, so I kinda heat the nittos a little and line up with him, when I line he says DAMn, your car sounds bad man, I told him his car sounded good too. he said he is selling his car and getting his dads 35th Aniv. GT in the next month or so. Anyway, so I count to 3 and we hit it, well, it was a little dirty out and the nittos didnt not hook at all, I spin all the way to the rev limiter in 1st and slamed 2nd gear as hard as I could, I jumped out about a half a car while spinning into 2nd but once it hooked I started to pull, at 70 I had about a car and a half on him, and in 3rd I just walked away, stoped at about 90 with about 3 full cars on him. He said he wanted to go again when he gets his GT, he said it had flows and 4.10's and that is was alot faster than the old LT1, his LT1 was pretty nice. It was black, with the sald shooters powdercoated black with a polished lip.

I have no idea, I don't know much about LT1 cars, we pulled over and he poped his hood, he had the Moroso CAI it went from the TB to the right side of the motor, he said something about the TB, I asked him what kind and he just said it was modified, whatever that means? I noticed it had aftermarket headers so I asked what kind they were and whatnot and he said EdelBrock, I asked if they were LT's and he said yea? So as far as I know thats what they are, but I could be wrong, you guys would know more than me, LOL. Besides those mods he had a Hooker Cat-Back, and I assume a new Intermediate pipe to match up with the new headers ect, unless he was full of it and they were EL or Shorties and he was running the stock Y? pipe.

Good kill on the LT1. Your car is very quick for little mods. I dont think edlebrock makes long tubes, i think they make those TES headers or whatever...crappy shorties i belive. Either way good kill, you must really get it going out of the hole

Yea he must have the shorties with stock y-pipe. Because 13.8 with headers cat-back and cai isn't that impresive. If he said he had lt's then I think he had something funny going on with the exhaust or he just didn't hear what you said and just agreed with you.

Yea, that is possible. He said when he ran the 13.8 it was on street tires, my car is runnning 13.4's right now with DECENT 60ft's, mostly just 1.9's. I trap 102+, but this is in Texas in summer time, the DA is like 2000+, so in winter my car would run MUCH better times. Back with my 98 Motor when I was running 13.7's, he could beat me on the street, pretty bad too.

My old best was a 13.774@97.09 w/1.899 60ft. I used to run nitrous on it and it blew one night at the track, my best 100 shot time was a 12.8@108 with a 1.82 60ft. The new motor is very strong and I don't think I am gonna have much problems running 12's with a few bolt-ons.

I don't think so either. For all the doubters of a n/a GTs potential:

Hey man, your car sounds like it is pretty fast? So you know about the Z28 I am talking about huh? It looks pretty clean, but is not the fastest, what speed did yall race too? From a dead stop with me spinning a good amount I managed to have about 3 full cars on him by 90 or so MPH. Do you have any track times? I don't recall ever seeing your car, I live about a 1/2 mile away from the Sweetwater Country Club if you know the area, if I see you around I will talk with you and we can get some runs in, but with your cam I am thinking your gonna get me, but we will see.
