13.5@102 - first time at the track

first time at the track and i was extremely nervous. i only got 1 pass before it was time to close. mods are in the sig. it all happened really fast and all i remember doing was after the burnout i went up to the lights and as soon as it turned green my first thoughts was "take off!" so i floored it. surprisingly i dont think i had much/any wheel spin on street tires. its an automatic so all i did was take my foot off the break and mash the gas, didn't rev up or anything. i went up against another Z28 that ran a 9.9 but my experience was awesome, can't wait to do it again!

well, with a little practice you'll do better. experiment with loading, (building up rpm's) and see what woulds for you. no right or wrong way to drive in a straight line. first several times, i know your adrenoline is going, but dont worry about the other car, its you vs yourself. later its you vs the clock, (meaning reaction time) and finally you vs them. some good write ups on this in the drag racing section. not bad for a first time tho

thanks man. yea, i just need to make some more passes to see if anything can get better. now that i finally went once, more times shouldn't be a problem. i was disappointed i only had enough time to make 1 pass last night though, they took forever in line. with the camaro that i ran against (9.9) i just through that in there because i thought it was pretty funny lol i wasn't really worried about that though, i tried not to think about it and only concentrate on myself but it was completely new to me

Thumbs up

That's a stellar time for your first time at the track.

You have a very STRONG LT1 too.

I was gonna say - that's pretty strong, esp. your 1/8th mile, for relatively few mods.

the ones in my sig are what i did personally, and when i bought the car it appeared/sounded stock. i dont really know any other way to tell if there is anything else besides the stuff you see visually when you open the hood. but i've always noticed that my car seemed a little quick, when i would race an SS or an LS1, wouldn't win but wouldn't lose bad

very nice time dude. i sucked the first few times i went 17.4 @ 94 granted my clutch was shot (didnt know, was a n00b then) spec 3 right after that, snapped axle, then tranny was messed up. never perfect run (hah side rant right there)

for all i know is stock auto? i haven't messed with that since i got the car, is there a way to tell if they're not stock? my freeway driving has pretty low RPMs cruising at 70-80ish it might get up to around 2500? i can't be too sure exactly because i never really pay attention but i know its no where close to 3k. other than the mods in my sig (that i put on myself) i have no clue what someone before me did to this car, but i always had the impression that it was stock

Great run dude...I just think the general idea is that the LT1 is SOOOO underrated and under appreciated

Sounds like 4.10 gears to me. My RPM's are around 1600 at that speed. Granted i have a manual but you shouldnt be above 2000 rpm's with stock gears. you have a low-ish 60' considering you didnt use any sticky tires and how you described the way you launched. Good numbers though.

hmm...never thought about that, i'll try and take note of the different rpms at different speeds tomorrow
