Re: 05 mustang stories

05 GT's are no match for an LS1 car, stock for stock. Maybe an A4 LS1 vs a M6 05 might be close, but overall they have them beat.

Your victory is pretty cool. do you know what you dyno?

Re: 05 mustang stories

I ran against an '05 mustang A5 at the track. I outlaunched him by quite a bit, but he pulled about 2-3 cars on me by the end of the 1/4. He didn't break into 13's the whole night, I think he ran a 14.1 against me @ 101mph. I ran a 14.5 @ 97mph. Close race though...

Change those gears to 3.43, and you've got him. Those headers would certainly help too.

Re: 05 mustang stories

id say you either got lucky and or a bad driver. Ive seen one run a 13.3 stock...and w/ the computer reflashed they have run even faster stock..I happen to think w/ the right driver they are competition for a stock or close to LS1...Id say after you have all your bolt ons you should be a good run for a 05..as you sit you'd get yanked. Saw one on the hwy the other day..actually 1st one ive seen driven aggresively on the street I was impressed.

Re: 05 mustang stories

when i used to live in FL i seen a few auto run at the track. they were running 14.2-5 @97-99 on avg.
now i am in ND and i have only seen 2 at the track. both ran 14.5-8 @94-95
there is a guy on a fla board that ran 13.2@105 recently with only x-pipe, catback and comp tuning.

Re: 05 mustang stories

My best friend has an 05 gt 5 speed. It is a real nice car, but stock or close to stock it is no match for an ls1. With some mods however, could get closer. They are not as SLOW as the 04 and before gt's, by a longshot.

He has magnaflow, predator, jlt intake and some suspension parts

He also has 19's with a prokit. 275front and 295 rear. It looks BADASS

He has laid down some 13's at the track at 101-102 ish.

by the way I have a non stalled 99 a4, so that throw's that theory out the window

check it out http://2mfffabshop.com

btw that is my z and vette in a few pics, he also has a 66 stang (badass also) chevy against ford..............it dont get any better

Ive known him since I was 6 and now I am 35, so we've been going at it for many years

No match for a M6 but comparible to an A4

before the stall i pulled a fender on my buddys 02 WS6 all the way to 100! He has exhaust and at the time i had exhaust and a lid! After the stall! started at 15mph roll im on street tires pulled about 3 cars on him instantly stayed that way to 130 he started pulling barely noticeable...

I guess having an auto is a good excuse if i lose though!

Re: 05 mustang stories

I raced my friends dads '05 GT down an industrial park driveway the other day. We were dead even each and every time. Both auto. The only thing he had done to it was a tune. I have exhaust, shorties, intake, underdrive pulleys, etc. Got a chance to drive it before and after the tune and its a very nice ride.

i've seen that car at fontana, it looks pretty good. i was there on apr 18 for one of the private day tracks. i saw that car and i guess it was running against you. my cousing took a video of your car racing that mustang. you killed it bad , it was the only 05 mustang gt running at fontana on this date. i saw 2 passes, 14.6@97mph, and another 14.45@98mph. we thought it was an automatic because of the et and traps. later my cousing found out it was a 5 speed, and he showed me those pics i'm seen on the link you posted.

how fast is he running now after those mods????, my cousing told me he saw that car last month or so, on another of these private track days, but he was not able to see this car racing...

how fast were you running at fontana on this date???
i was trying to catch some traction in the middle of the track, but i guess i need to play more with my the rear tires and their air pressure. (i'm running on regular street tires).i was running 13.7@103-104mph all day. my best pass was 13.70@104.78, my problem was bsd wheel spin during my 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd shift.
the da and headwinds were playing with our et . i installed a new catted midpipe and i'm going there again on june the 18th for their street legal races to try them out. i just need to learn how to smooth the shifts out on this track. it's hard, but i'll do it before switching to dr's.

hope to see you guys there

Re: 05 mustang stories

Were you in the Mach 1 crew, I think there was 50 of them there

My buddy with the 05 hit a few high 13's but trapped a few 102's and 101's, which is much better than the first time. He is getting better at driving that thing. He finally got his 60' down to 2.1, when you were there he was like 2.3-2.4. I ragged on him all night about it, the car DOES have more in it. When you saw his car it had the bullits on it, now it has 19 in roh drifts or something like that. It is a BAD looking rig, especially sitting next to my pile of junk. The camera man has NEVER taken a pic of me yet my buddy has like 5,000 pics on the website.

We both run street tires also. I have an a4 and on my 1-2 shift I was out of control as you well know, it felt like it was raining or something, horrible and kinda dangerous. Ive never laid 30 feet of rubber on the 1-2 shift before

After they laid down some vht It was alot more fun. My best that night was a 13.39@104.xx I also laid down a 2.06 60' on my street tires, which I was very proud of since I am running a 7.5 wide wheel with a 255 on it

I just got new wheels however, 17x9.5 f and 17x11 r with 315 nittos out back.

Your car sounds like a good race for mine, I plan on going out next time, with a few more mods. I'd like to have a converter, ls6 intake and pulleys. We should hook up and talk some **** and have a few runs.
Were not really chevy against ford guys, just kinda there to learn and have fun.

The private track rental is awsome and well worth the 100 bucks

Ive rambled enough

i agree, it is worth the $100 fee. i was to able to run 8 times, have to leave early cause the weather, it was too cold for my wife
anyways, i'm thinking to go for the next one in august, would see on that one, but more likely i'll end up going there on jun 18th, and having at least a couple of runs.
oh, and yes, i'll race you, and your 05 gt friend... i'm game for a good friendly race on the track. i'll let you know.
it would good to meet you guys.
have fun.
