has anyone had any races against an 05 mustang gt in an LT1 car yet? I have a 97 Z28 6 speed but i work at a ford dealership, ive driven the new mustangs but im not sure how a stock Z28 and a new mustang would match up.

 

With your mods, it shouldn't give you a problem. A stock for stock LT1 is toast.

 

when my 96z was stock i would beat mustangs 5.0or 4.6 no problem,since modding my car i beat them by 8 or 9 car lengths.

 

Yup, I drove a new GT and for a Ford was very impressed. It will take a few mods to whip one. Now a stock LS1 would still walk all over it.

 

just curious, what are you guys running with your LT1 cars? what did they run stock? mine seems to be a fairly strong runner for stock. i have no 1/4mi times but it ran 9.05@79mph in the 1/8mi in 95* heat and 90% humidity. i'm almost certain that on a cool, non-humid night i could get it into the 8.90's maybe the 8.80's. it is a 700r4 car with i believe 3.23 gears.

 

The general consensus is that bone stock LT1's run 14.00-14.25 (hard-top) 1/4 mile ET's. You will also have the few freaks or very excellent drivers that can squeak out a high 13, but these are the exceptions not the rule.
