'01 SS takes down '99 Cobra easily

Guy a knew from back in high school recently traded in his Navigator and got a white '99 Cobra. Nice car overall. He's a pretty cocky guy and he tends to drive around like he owns the road, so I was really looking forward to this potential matchup... and it just so happened on my way to work this morning.

Pulled up next to him at a light behind some traffic. Complimented him on the ride, he actually admitted he would have trouble with my SS. His only mod was a catback, sounded nice. So he gets out in front of traffic, and I make my way up along side with nothing but clear road ahead of us. This is the exact moment why we own the cars that we do.

I drop down into 2nd and we hit it from a 50 punch; I run out 2nd and through 3rd I'm ahead by 2 cars, still pulling decently when I let out at 95 for upcoming cars. Gave me the thumbs up and I returned the favor. I was pretty fired up, first Cobra kill for me. Now I gotta get some real mods to go play with the big boy.

I've really enjoyed the last 6 months since joining the darkside.

Lightbulb I was gonna post a "LOL" , but actually ...

That's a damn good question !

For what they are ( 4.6 liters ) those Cobra/Mach motors run really, really well !

And, they sound so bad azz !!

Good kill, though - and , glad to hear that he was not a sore loser !

good race, most SS will beat cobra untill the 03 came out! Well stock for stock SS will lose to the 03, and thats because Camaro didnt come out with a 03 :/

Don't know if he definately had the recall done, but I wouldn't doubt it. At this point a majority have. Car ran pretty strong, I heard back before the '99s were fixed, they were slower than the GTs. I did get a slight jump which helped my cause as well, I'm sure it would have been closer from a dig.

Thanks for the compliments.
