00' z28 vs. 95 Gt

Tonight me with my 2000 z28 ran my friend with his 95 Gt just for fun and since he just installed a couple of items. My mods are Lm exhaust, ftra, lid, and 160 t stat, and his mods are Timing to 14*, Longtubes, MAC Prochamber,
Dynomax Bullet Race Mufflers, 3.73's, Pro-M 80MM MAF, 24# Injectors,
Edelbrock Performer 5.0 Intake Manifold, Kirban AFPR, Aluminum U/D Pulleys,
Steeda Tri-Ax Shifter, and Smog Pump Pulley. We did 2 runs from a 40 and 45 mph roll since his tires are pretty shot in the rear. Keep in mind I have a auto and he's manual.

45 roll: He's at around 4600 rpm's and im around 3k or so. He honks it off 3 times, he jumps out 3-4 feet on me, it stays that way for a second then I pull next to him and it was even for a few seconds until i creeped on him. He was on my bumper when we had to shut off around 100 mph.

40 roll: He was in a good spot in 2nd gear and pulls about a half car in head of me, then I creep out on him again and we shut down around 100 again with him being a couple feet from my bumper.

So those were my races for tonight. He is getting DR's real soon and I am getting my headers and y pipe installed then we will run again and prolly post a video.

I'm surprised that Mustang did that well w/o heads and a cam.

Me too, sure he didnt have a supercharger hidden in there? Naw just kidding. Good runs, but I just expected a bit more from the mighty LS1

To tell you the truth I expected a little more aswell. And the only "excuss" I can say in my defence was that my airbox leaks a little out the sides and those speeds werent as good for my car. lol

Re: 00' z28 vs. 95 Gt

well for one thing the A4 is basically **** from a roll if you're going cruising speeds....it has a HUGE "dead spot" from 35ish all the way through 50mph (or right under; 48-49). Between those speeds the transmission SHOULD downshift but for whatever reason it just doesn't. Nail it going that fast and the car kind of acts like it has a big turbo or something and sluggishly builds speed until the RPM's can climb. Once the rpms are up though its hallin *** like it should. Try racing your friend again from a stop, OR if you must go from a roll, go from 25 mph (probably get some tire spin here) and again from 55 or 60 mph. I promise you'll win by a much bigger margin.

Did you register here soley to troll and start crap? Since this is your first post I'll assume the answer is yes and go on to tell you that you need to get a life because if you have enough free time on your hands to register on a board JUST to say crap like that then there's something wrong with you. Second, LS1's (and LT1's for that matter) are EVERYTHING they're cracked up to be, they have become the measuring stick by wich all other street cars are compared (LS1's especially). Want proof? I used to frequent 300zx turbo forums before I got the T/A and the topic of "what mods do I need to beat stock or modded LS1" comes up pretty frequently. This is not to say that the LS1 is the "best, fastest, most powerful" car on the road, but if you can beat one, you're car is generally considered (by a fairly large group of people) to be "fast".

haha yeah you got me, something about what you wrote just rubbed me wrong I guess. No hard feelings.

Oh...and if LS1/LT1 is not "fast for you" then what other vehicles do you own that give you such a warped perception of speed????

good runs. sounds to me like the z28 could use some tuning, though.
