00 GT vs 06 GT
00 GT vs 06 GT
Today on my way into work I was caught off guard as a light blue Mustang GT rolled up next to me with a guy is his late 20s early 30s eying my car. I motioned to him then me and pointed forward hoping he would bite(it was the first time the roads have been decent in about 2 months and was itching). Sure enough the tranny in his car kicked down a gear and he was off. I proceeded to drop to 3rd at 50, we slowed down initially to pace each other. I jumped out almost instantly by a car and had run about 4 out to 90 to which I shut it down.
We talked at the stop light at the end of the off ramp for a moment and exchanged compliments. I was really pleased to see that from a high roll I pulled, as that is really where the car should be limited. Well the light turned green and we rolled out at 15 and hit it to which I had to let up as my tires just cannot cope with cold air and torque. I flashed him off and made a turn into my works complex.
I was really surprised at how well the car pulls on something with similar power. I have not been able to test the new gears out since I put them in in January. A dig with a good street tire an air or drag radials would most likely have ended with me out on him by a bus length or so.
I cannot wait till I pick up my BFG DRs.

Good runs...Id assume he was stock? Im sure the race would have gone much differantly if he had a cai & tune and the right driver. Those cars are day and night differance after that. Like to see what your turning at the track.
DC,
So you did put the 4.30s in right?
Hows it as far as drivability?
I had the 4.30s in my 32V mach and they were great, but heard you could go 4.56s in them with not much more rpm increases.
So I take it that the 4.30s are not much higher than the 4.10s on the rpm cruising meter for the 2v motors huh?
Good kill.

With the Drag Radials this year I am planning on a 13.3 to 13.1. I ran last year in 94 degree heat with street tires, plenum, pulleys, and catback and ran 13.90@100.78 with a 2.175 60ft. I was able in cooler air (mid 80s) to hit 102mph. I'll be hitting the track with the 4.30s, BFG drag radials, tune and full exhaust(hopefully). I will be able to launch most likely this year near 3k instead of off idle
with a manual like I did last year
Antz: I usually agree that the S197 is a tune away from moving nicely but I am part of the two largest Mustang clubs in upstate NY, MOMs and POPs and haven't really had an issue yet.
He had an axle back exhaust.
Last year I was running dead nuts even with my buddies Mach1. He couldn't shift for crap but he could not pull me on the top end. I guess its just a strong runner, and I know the motor is internally stock as I put the motor in.

W/ some good driving Id say your guesstimates are possible, what are your plans for the car, w/ the 430's Id assume you plan on going na? 2V Heads and Cams seem to be pricey to get you abit over 300 rwhp. Ive entertained the idea of starting a 2V project in the past but the engines potential runs outta steam too quick without going w/ a pricey build up, for me anyway.
Hitech motorsport cams with everything else being stock are netting over 300rwhp. They are making leaps and strides in the 2v technology. The Trickflow intake is getting some really good press aswell.

Pyro: I run mostly at NYIRP but occasionally go to ESTA as I lived in Syracuse for 24 years. NYIRP is a little more laxed on the rules and the track hooks better.
ANT: You have been part of almost every discussion about Mustangs that I chime in on. You of all people should know that a 300rwhp N/A Mustang is going to run deep 12s with a good gear and suspension. I don't know why I have to restate it all the time.
No offense man but you have heard the arguements and can very well head over to modulardepot to check out the times guys are running. It is not some miracle car times as MANY cars are doing it.
EDIT: The fully built N/A Mustangs are running 10s and 11s. I can live with that once this stops becoming my DD. I don't need to have the fastest car in the world, only one fast enough to make me smile when I hit the accelerator.

I will send you a PM. I mainly race there with POPsracing as they hold most events there and a few at lester in Buffalo. I will see if they are holding any test and tunes. ESTA is not a full time track and only runs on the weekends. NYIRP is a full time track.
I go to NYIRP because it is about 30 miles south of my house.
