Winter Driven 94' Rust: Subframe Connectors

Well after getting up and personal doing headers on the ground im starting to notice some issues of rust on the floorboards and along the side of the car. The rust looks like surface and not through by any means. I got a set of bmr boxed weld ins i have to go in this year. Should i fix this issue before welding in the subframes. Going to sand it down to metal and prime and paint over the spots of rust before and after the subframes are in.

Just wanted someones else's input on the subject as i know its becoming more common as these cars getting older.

Thanks.

Sounds like a good way to attack it. Do all of your prep work with paint before the sfc's go in. I've always used POR15 when I see rust. You can pretty much take a hammer to the paint and it wont knock loose. It's expensive, around $25 a pint, but will last forever. http://www.por15.com/

por15 is the ****! I have never seen anything that holds up like it. I have painted OVER rusty frames and the stuff looks new years later.
