Where do i start?
Where do i start?
Im now in the quest for better 60' times. The best that i could get at the track was a 2.385 and that was on bald khumos and they made me run along the side of the track so i didnt get to run on the preped part. I got worse traction than the street.
Anyways im going to get some slicks or et streets soon, but i would like to do some suspension mods in the meantime. What should i start with, my suspension is completely stock. I was looking at this hotchkis supspension package(hss-1501 in summit) for $125 and it didnt sound to bad...would that be a good way to go?
Thanks
James

Re: Where do i start?
I am on the same quest, the general opinion seems to be:
1. 16" Wheel with sticky rubber, lowered PSI at the track.
2. Good LCA with relocation brackets.
3. Good aftermarket TC.
4. Lots of Practice AKA: Seat time.
I had 2.2-2.3 60's last night, and now I need some traction work. These are the four things I think I am going to pursue to remedy this. But most of all I think I need seat time to perfect the launch.

Re: Where do i start?
One, why were they making you run on the side of the track? thats a safety hazard.
Two, Tires, get better ones, get LCA's at this time to help with hop.
Three, Them tires are going to kill your rear end, so save up.
Four, Why dont you have a 3200 stall yet?
Five, now get into more suspension, tq arm, shocks, springs.

Re: Where do i start?
The track is an old airport and it is very wide. on the side it is just like the pavement of a highway and thats were they made the guys that didnt have drs or slicks run...not sure why.
I think that ill get slicks and lakewood lcas first. I dont have a stall yet because i dont have traction anyways, and because a stall costs alot of money and im always spending my money on little things here and there before i can get enough saved up. However, i do have enough for a fuddle stall but i havent heard and lt1 guys using them so i dont know if there good or not.
Also do i need relocation brackets...my car isn't lowered?
Thanks guys
James

Re: Where do i start?
I didn't think the LCA reloc Brak's were necessary untill lowering a veh, either. The stall ant' that much, but you got a point there w/ the traction. The install is where it get's expensive unless you do it your self. The aftermarket LCA's helped my traction issue BIG TIME!! Look into a TQ arm, aslo. Mabie even a line lock...
Slicks won't kill your rear as quick as it would a manual tranny, but still all the same. The slicks are brutal on the stcok 10bolt.. The stall is a great improvement over stock if you are looking to lower your 60' times...You will leave at that start of your power curve, but it will kill your MPG ratting somewhat...

Re: Where do i start?
Ya i might as well get traction first ... cause a stall will kill it even more. And i kinda want to see how far i can get on the stocker. I was looking at the lcas form lakewood they are only 90 bucks so i think that ill get some of them. I can get the slicks off of a friend for only a 100 bucks so i think ill get them, but when i get a stall im gona run drs so that it isnt so hard on the rearend.
Its only 20 more days untill i graduate hs...then i start my $12/hour job and i can get more stuff for my car...hahaha
