Re: What is Recommended for 1st mod?

I would say subframe connectors for first suspension mod. Quickly followed by quality shocks.

Definitely get some SFC's, they make a noticable difference. What kind that's up to you. I would get a boxed type though.

Re: What is Recommended for 1st mod?

subframe connectors will stiffen the car up, making all future mods more effective.

and after that, for a nice noticable increase in cornering ability...sway bars. i have the BMR 32/21mm solid bars which made a HUGE improvement.

Get some SFC's first. Then a spohn torque arm that mounts to the frame. Definitly will stiffen things up and the torque arm will take some stress off your transmission.

Re: What is Recommended for 1st mod?

Thank you all very much for your advise. I will start shopping for sub
frame connectors. I also liked the suggestion for the larger bars!
Thanks aqgain guys

www.hotpart.com Just got theirs in this week. They look identical to the kenny browns and you can't beat the price.

35mm bar, tires, shocks and a whole bunch of other stuff before SFC. Having the chassis a bit stiffer isn't going to help if the car is still rolling around all over the place like a pig.

i'd definelty say new front sway bar. i love my 35MM bar, it feels great.

Sub frame connectors were so so, not a whole lot changed.

Re: What is Recommended for 1st mod?

No one has asked you the purpose of your car...but none-the-less shocks are the weakest piece on 4th gen f-bodies. Koni SA or Strano-valved Bilsteins are, IMO, the best options out there.

Shocks will make the biggest difference in handling, ride quality, and performance.

Re: What is Recommended for 1st mod?

ZaneO I just desire a more "neutral" handleing car. I know this isn't a fair comparison but I also own a 96 Corvette Collector Edition equipped with the Z51 suspension, that think feels like a fast go-cart,a tight curve or off ramp on the thruway brings a smile to my face! The Z28 I just got is ok but---
I just want it to handle better, not concerned at all about ride quality.
Thanks to all for your advise.

Another vote from front swaybar. Try Stranoparts.com.
After that, 17" wheels and quality rubber.

Hell yes, that should be the FIRST thing you change!

After that, get the front end aligned and get away from those damned factory liability specs (they're intentionally set up to understeer, or plow, into a corner). Do those two things before you start buying a bunch of hardware you might not really want or need. I had mine aligned to -1 degree camber, +4.5 caster, and 1/32 toe in. A lot of guys use toe out to make the car turn in easier, but a possible trade-off is having a twitchy car that wants to wander all over the road if you go to far on the toe out...

If you're still not satisfied, then you can add the sway bars, lowering springs, SFC's, and so on....

Hint: If you think you might want to lower the car (like I wanted to), it's best to do the springs when you're changing shocks, especially in the front.
