What really is the best drag setup?
What really is the best drag setup?
what really is the best drag setup? that is still streetable?
shocks?
springs?
front and rear swaybars?
Torque Arm?
everything.... just whatis the best overall setup?

its all streetable, you just have to drive it accordingly....you cant go whipping around a corner with a 90/10 front shock and no sway bar....if you drive it with care its not a problem....the question is how much "streetability" are you willing to give up to go straight
It's hard to get the best of both worlds. There is a sticky over at ls1tech that trackbird wrote on this matter. Good stuff!

I have QA1 R series on mine 275 lb springs up front, no front sway bar, Im going to get a set of QA1 rear coil overs as well, and I have a spohn pro series 1 5/16 rear adjustable sway bar. theres a spohn chassis mount adjustable torque arm on my car to.

The way I understand it is (via my suspension guy) that the first thing to do is to scale the car with the good scales that go under each tire with you in the car and the amount of fuel you run in the tank. From that you get exactly where the weight is in the car and can then use the appropriate springs for the cars weight which would be optimal for the strip. There's apparently a basic formula for a vehicle's weight distribution and the corresponding springs, both front and rear, which would be optimal.
As I understand it the front springs and shocks play a more important role in load transfer than the rears do, which is why lots just use the adjustable shocks in the rear while maintaining the stock spring. With properly adjusted rear shocks you can keep the car from squatting too much which helps to drill the back tires into the track when the prep is good...As the track "goes away" you can soften the shock settings to not hit the rear tires so hard...
Having a properly set up rear coil over set up means that you probably have scaled the car and have the right springs for the rear based on weight, not just the factory passenger car spring, and it will work even better to aid in the launch of the car...The other added bonus is that now you can adjust the ride height in the front AND rear...
I just bought QA1 R series fronts and 315 lb springs on a great deal from LPE...We are going to scale the car Monday to see if the 315s are too stiff for my set up (should be close with the LT1s iron block)...I did cheap out on the rears by just buying a great used set of QA1 12 ways to use with my stock springs...I was 60ing at 1.55s with stock springs and shocks so I'm thinking this stuff should help me break into the 1.4s...
