Warped rotors?

Ok I was bad and let her sit for about a year. So I finally get her started and go for spin and when I brake I get a really bad shimmy effect. Could the rotors have warped? Also they are rusted over, but it is slowly coming off as I drive it more and more. Thanks for replies.

Wait until all the rust is off and they are all shiny again. If it still does it then, you'll have to have them turned of buy rotors.
Because the 4th Gen. brakes aren't great I would buy new rotors anyway.

Re: Warped rotors?

Most probably uneven "grabbing" of the rotor based on rust.

IMO purchasing new rotors isn't going going to improve the stock performace of the LT1 style brakes (not including your rust issue). At a minimum, you'll need better brake pads. For real improvement you need the LS1 setup or better.

Look for uneven patterns of rust on the rotors..that's an easy sign if they're warped. The rust will be gone on the high parts, still visible on the lows.

I can't imagine them warping while sitting still.

Re: Warped rotors?

Warping rotors is EXTREMELY uncommon.....................it is pretty much a phenonmenon. Many people just automatically dismiss problems with their braking system as warped rotors, however 99999999x out of 100000000 it is not.

Change your pads and seat them correctly, then make sure the lines have no air in them and your problem will go away.
