vette calipers

I am wondering if you can put y2k vette front calipers on a stock 98-2002 camaro/firebird setup. I am not looking to switch to a bigger rotor i am just looking to set up to the two piston calipers that the y2k vettes have. Plus i like the apperance of the vette calipers. any feedback form people that have done this conversion would be greatly appreciated.

the kit i will proably be buying is the thunder racing brake kit that includes the power slot rotors, braided lines and hawk pads. I dont have the budget for a baer or willwood setup but definatly need some better braking power. as the birdman said "That stock **** stank".

The only potential issue I can see in this that the stock 98+ F-Body rotor is quite a bit thinner than the C5 rotor, almost a 1/4".

Consequently, the gap between the caliper pistons and the outer ears is wider on a C5 caliper than on an F-Body caliper.

So, the pistons in a C5 caliper on an F-Body rotor will move further out of the caliper housing when the pads get low than they normally would with a C5 rotor.

Will they pop out? Will they rock and stick in the cylinder bore? How much is too far out?

I dunno ...

Yeah, you would need to use C5 rotors also.

I converted, used special brackets that were designed to accept the C5 calipers. Not sure if they sell anything like that for the LS1 F-body? Also, the pads and lines would need to be C5 also.

My upgrade was very similar to a Baer kit, same basic parts and instructions. I went with the Vette stuff because the kit I made of used parts was pretty cheap. So unless somebody has an adapter kit for the C5 calipers, I'd go with aftermarket.

Where did you get those bracket at? Are they Bob Bishop brackets? If not, I need to know where to buy those brackets as well.

Bob is currently in a major redesign/marketing upgrade of his brackets. I've seen pics and they look great.

The only other vendor out there that I know of manufacturing adaptor brackets is LG Motorsports
