tightening up the suspension

I drive a 2000 Camaro SS with about 65,xxx miles on it. I was looking into tightening up the suspension some, because it feels really loose and sloppy. I know these cars arent built for corners, and I dont intend to auto-x it, but I do intend to drag race it. I'm going to put in some tubular bmr lca's, and tubular bmr sfc's pretty soon, but I wanna know what else I can do to help make everything tighten up some. Should I try to replace the sway bar bushings or anything like that?? What could I do thats relatively cheap(i.e. bushings, or anything like that) to make the car handle a little better?? Thanks for the help guys.

Bushings are a good place to go for cheap. Not all of them are easy to install though. Have fun doing the a-arm bushings.

A panhard rod is another relatively cheap mod. that you can do, front and rear poly bushings/endlinks are also cheap upgrades. If you have a little more money to spend, a set of struts/shocks are also a very good handling upgrade.

Replace your shocks. It is the single best thing you can do to increase the cars handling and response. Go with a set of Bilsteins. The difference will be night and day.

Agreed, if you are still on the stock shocks, the sloppy feel that you get is more than likely due to the crappiest shocks ever put on a sports car, the orange DeCarbons Try some new shocks and you should see a huge improvement (I don't think your bushings are worn out yet at 65,XXX miles, although I would stil check them).

Re: tightening up the suspension

Sorry I havent been checking this post, been busy with school. My bushings do look worn, thats why I mentioned them. This is my first car, so I dont know a whole lot about suspension and stuff, but they look worn and like their almost starting to crack. Sadly enough, I replaced the shocks recently with the DeCarbons(my parents fault), so I will wait a little longer on the Bilsteins till I have some more money. There is a story behind that if you wanna hear it later. So what bushings should I look into replacing that are relatively easy to do?? Front and rear sway bar bushings and endlinks, lca's, what else?? Thanks for the help guys.

My advise on a low budget would be LCA's Panhard rod and SFC's you can get all three for right under 400 from UMI. Just as good if not better than BMR. You can also find 1LE sway bars on SLP's website pretty cheap and those are also good to tighten your cornering up.
