ThirdGen Sway Bar on LS1 Rear End ??????

They Say Bigger is better - so ;

I'm putting a replacement LS1 rear end into my 95 LT1 and once I pulled the original rear end out I realized just how thin that sway bar is. I had a factory Third Gen IROC rear sway bar in the back of the garage and when I looked ( quick ) they seemed to have the same bends and mounting points. I'm now wondering if I should install the fatter IROC rear sway bar on the LS1 rear end going into my 95 Z.

Any reason I shouldn't use a third gen sway bar with a 4rth gen rear end ?????

P.S. Subframes connectors and a roll bar will be welded into the car in the next month or so & I may need to remove the convertable "X" Brace that I had installed last year ( To stiffen the frame ) If you think it matters !!!

ANY input welcomed !!!!

The rear parts will work just fine. It's the front suspension that is different. I say go for it (if that is the bar you want to use, there is no reason not to).

(edit=typo)

Like Trackbird said it will "work", but since your putting a roll cage and a host of other goodies on that thing, I'd put the fat one/aftermarket on. But that's just my .2, it's your car/budget

I just got though installing 3 gen rear bar today! It is awesome !
It is a good bar to run with the new 35 mm hollow bar from strano parts. It is only about a pound heavier than stock.. What a huge difference from the stock bars.

I was thinking about the rear sway bar,...........

Is the 35mm FRONT bar from an IROC ???? Can an IROC FRONT sway bar be installed on my 95Z too ???

That would be pretty cool because I have one of those in the garage too !! There is a "wonder" bar out there too ! I have not started to update my LT1 front end yet but the LS1 replacement parts for that job are allready painted and ready to get installed. I just need to finish installing the rear end first !!

Since I found the correct bushings for the IROC rear sway bar I'll install it with the LS1 rear-end to see how it feels. ( Along with the 4.11's ! )

They are different. Here is a post from someone who just tried that swap and thought it would fit.

He has a 4th gen V6 car and tried to install a 3rd gen TA bar.

It fit fine -------->

Well,

I installed the rear end and added the IROC sway bar to the set-up. I have not been able to drive the car because I broke a brake line today while installing it and need a replacement !!

Here's a good look at an IROC rear sway bar installed on a LS1 rear end under a 95 Z28.

LS1 Rear End with 4.11's

I can't wait to drive it !!!!

I guess I should have clarified in this case, it was the front bar. Yes, the rear fits fine (as I said in the beginning). I was referencing this for your question about the front bar. Sorry for the confusion.

I didn't know the IROC's had 35mm fronts. Just to clarify though, 3rd gen front sway bars will not fit 4th gen fronts?

No, they won't. I have both front and rear off a 89 z. The rear is the only one that fits. The front bar isn't even close to fitting the 4 gen. Although, I thought that 3 gen front bars are 36 mm. I guess I should get off my lazy butt and find out.
