Re: SWAY BARS for my Camaro

I think they are the same for v6's but I went with a 32mm up front.. Hollow SLP one.. The solids are quite a bit heavier and Ive taken around 100 lbs off the front of the camaro to give it a better weight distribution for handling... Now the 32 solid is more ridged but im concerned with weight...

Ideally i would buy the 35mm Hollow from Sam Strano but its a bit pricey right now.

Any of them SLP, BMR, sam strano... just look for the best buy and customer service cuz all the sway bars that say 32mm solid or what ever are teh same.

Solid is a mistake, you need to rethink that conclusion.

Very little of the stiffness of the bar comes from the center. The outside edges do most of the work. Solid will add lots of weight and very little stiffness. Example, look at your drive shaft, hollow thin wall, large diameter, that makes it light and strong. If your buddy was right, that drive shaft would be a thin solid bar, not a tube.

Solid is easier to make, so many aftermarket designs are solid.

The cheapest up grade bar is the 32mm 1LE bar on ebay 24.99.

You will need new barmount bushings and endlinks total cost should be less than $50.00 or so.

Strano 35mm hollow is a good bar also, a good deal for the money, but more money than the 32mm 1LE. Those two would be about all I would consider.
