anyone that has subframe connectors. did your frame feel stiffer? less noise, flex? tell me what the car felt like after. Also, where can I get bolt in SFC s

 

SFCs are one of my favorite chassis/suspension mods and made one of the more noticable differences on the car. The car feels alot tighter and any road noise it used to make is now completely gone. Definitely one of the better upgrades I have done. Umiperformance sells bolt-in style SFCs.

 

It made the car feel 5 years newer. 2/3 of the squeaks and rattles were gone. Definately a must have mod.

anyone know where the cheapest place to get umi bolt in sub frame connectors is? Also is the 3 point worth the $100 over the 2 point umi connectors?

 

A lot of people will tell you that bolt-in SFCs won't show as much of an improvement as weld-in, especially over time. Just FYI. Others will tell you that bolt-ins are fine.

Personally, I'll be going with weld-ins.

 

The only reason Im going bolt in, is b/c I heard I would have to pull carpet for weld in. Did anyone not have to pull the carpets, or any interior?

 

carpet shouldnt be an issue with the weldins, there underneath your car

 

So I shouldnt have to pull anything out of the interior at all?

 

Some people weld the SFCs to the floor pan as well as to the subframes. This makes them even stronger. Since a good weld connecting the SFCs to the floorpan will penetrate to the other side, there is risk of setting the carpet on fire.

I've heard of very experienced welders successfully welding SFCs to the floorpan without removing the carpet, but I wouldn't try it myself.

 

Are you planning on welding these in yourself? You shouldn't have to remove any carpeting to do the job. The main thing to be careful of when welding is to keep clear of the fuel lines.

 

ya. Im a body man, so Im quite experienced in welding. When we did sub conects on a fox, we had to remove the carpets. I guess they have different mounting points

 

ive had sfc's for 2 years now, unfortunately, its been sitting in its original box in my garage for 2 years need to get them welded on.

 

Slightly stiffer ride but not harsh, I think they were a good investment.

 

You could get bolt-ons and then weld them on, use the bolts to hold em in place as you weld...
